Professor, personal account. Genetics, genomics, brain development, other stuff. Typo-prone. If you’re nice I’ll post dog photos.

If you click the Starter Packs tab below you’ll find two I made for genetics and genomics accounts.

I am thankful for gene synthesis, hi-fi assembly, and inexpensive whole-plasmid sequencing.

I mean, Steve Gadd’s chart on the title track is still amazing.
"Thanksgiving should be an opportunity to respectfully put our differences aside—to laugh about our shared memories and strengthen our familial bonds. Instead, my uncle lectures me about the production quality of the band’s Grammy Award-winning album Aja."
Thanksgiving Is Always Ruined by That One Uncle Obsessed with Steely Dan
There are so many reasons to look forward to Thanksgiving. There’s the food, of course, but there’s also the chance to reconnect with our families ...

One month later and those 30 billion base pairs are crammed into just about 14 chromosomes. HOT DANG! This seemed impossible 4-5 years ago.

Open faculty position (Assistant or Associate) in UW Medical Genetics. As you might expect, faculty often end up also interacting with Genome Sciences, so we're hoping for some great prospects! Note the clinical requirements for the position. apply.interfolio.com/176466

Partisan mood affiliation has led some people to take the stance that AI and robotics and biotech are no big deal and our lives will go on largely unaffected, or that they are all bad and we should simply resist. I’d much rather have those people thinking carefully about the big changes to come.

Alfred Henry Sturtevant, who famously constructed the first genetic map “to the neglect of my undergraduate homework” was born #OTD in 1891.

His sort book, A History of Genetics, remains a must-read, often firsthand, account of development of the field.

One of the strangest aspects of aging that they don't warn you about is watching as history gets rewritten right in front of your face and people 20 years younger than you confidently tell you about something you lived through and get it completely wrong.
