@cityofvancouver.bsky.social what *is* the City’s tangible, practical, on-the-ground safety plan for tsunami warnings or impacts? Like, do we have signs, sirens, Parks Board patrolling beaches to keep ppl safe etc? Not talking about gov warnings. You’re not winging it, right? RIGHT?

IF you’re on the very West Coast of BC, in Hawaii and probably the US coast, THERE HAS BEEN A MAJOR EARTHQUAKE (8.7!!!) in the Bering Sea in Russia and we are all on Tsunami Advisories. My zone is close (tho tucked in in Vancouver) but not listed - but I live a block and a half from the water so EEP

@amandaonmaui.bsky.social are you guys ok out there? I know Hawaii is on tsunami alert like the BC west coast. Thinking of you my sweets, stay safe!

Is my day of birth today. Have had a rough ol’ year tbh. Woke up in a dark hole, but pulled myself out with the help of a long reflexology session, a free Starbucks drink, a massive bouquet of 💐, messages and a dinner with mom and man. Also ate a bánh xèo bigger than my head. Roll on what’s next

I spent an evening being mildly stepped on, spittled on, staring into the crotch of, and enjoying every last second of the glorious, never-gives-less-than-110% Nick Cave, Warren Ellis, the remarkable Bad Seeds and Colin Greenwood of Radiohead. Just. Always. Stellar.

I live on a marathon route in Vancouver. Spring is HELL. So many runs. We are trapped. Cheering at 7am. We had a fam emerg and had to get to our car parked 2 blocks away (b/c our roads get closed) but still literally had to cross a marathon to get it - it was like Frogger. Fucking healthy city ugh

Sipping on all the gin tonight and just tested a popper to see if it still smelled like chemical sweat socks. Guess what? It did

This piece moved me. Touched to read stories and quotes about how the Canadian election has given hope and inspiration to other citizens around the world. Shame on the 30% who didn’t exercise their right, but it’s important for us who did to see the greater impacts of our efforts.
“…this morning, from a war zone half a world away, I was reading about your election. And for the first time in days, I exhaled.

A small, almost invisible breath. Relief.

And then came gratitude…

You didn’t just choose kindness or experience…

You chose not to flirt with fascism.”

From Ukraine.

Canada didn’t just resist, they reminded the rest of us how to endure

I can’t (but I can) believe that almost all of BC voted blue. This needs to be a super-strong call to @davidebybc.bsky.social 😳
