u aren't "born furry", u can choose to stop participating & leave the community if it doesn't interest or suit u anymore

if you stop engaging with ur therianthropy, u cut off key parts of urself & reduce ur experience of the world, making life feel more empty. it often reasserts itself later on

I often encounter folks who say ‘I wish I *could* be therian’ which says more that it’s a mental block preventing them from embracing who they are rather than a term that doesn’t fit them.

did you know you don’t have to believe you are literally a different animal, physically or mentally, to be therian?

if you feel like you’re more comfortable thinking of yourself as an animal, or wish you had animal features, or feel like expressing animalistic behaviors, you might be therian!

furry: i wanna be an animal (its not that serious)

therian: i wanna be an animal (it is that serious)

there is a lot of gray area & overlap here and that is ok & good actually

i feel cons should be able to be more accommodating to disabled and/or lower income DJs who cannot afford to play their events but still want to participate in their community. at least allow remote performances if you can’t pay your DJs/musicians.

THAT LIGHT INSIDE YOU

That “hole” we sometimes feel in the center of us? It isn’t emptiness. It’s a light. A core. It’s what remains when every human costume forced upon us has been smashed off the floor — the pulse that refuses to die even when we forget how to listen for it. It’s a tiny space… that’s why it often feels: quiet, unreachable, hidden beneath trauma, scar tissue or silence. But it’s never truly gone.

We may meet creatures who tell us they’ve felt distant from their creaturely and animal selves; that their connection used to burn brighter, but now it flickers. I want to remind you — as the elder wolf at the table, (tending her own light) — in the midst of everything terrible and wonderful — flickering is still fire.

The disconnection isn’t a failure; it’s a season. The creature self can go underground like hibernation. The light doesn’t vanish; it waits. You can’t force it open with willpower or rationalise it into the open. You reach it by remembering softness — the warmth of breath, the weight of fur — imagined or real — the rhythm that existed before words before human thought before guilt and shame.

There were times I thought I’d lost my light too — when the world grew so impossibly loud in my head and the human masks became too heavy to lift. But every time I’ve fallen quiet enough, the light has stirred, and I’ve known she was still there: the creaturely ember that endures even when the rest of me forgets how to howl.

If you feel nothing right now, that’s OK! The light doesn’t demand anything; it simply is. Touch the earth. Breathe. Feel the wind move across your skin. Cry, bark, purr, shout, weep. Creature will feel it. It always does.

That light was never a hole to fill — it is the part of us that remembers what we truly are: whole, creatures of light and love, wild, beautiful and free — waiting to be met again.

And if it flickers and splutters? Fear not. That light inside you will come back. It never went away.

I don't think motivating people to move to other platforms to avoid the stupid censorship rules is a good solution. Quite the opposite. There is NO SAFE space for artists nowadays, if we don't fight back this will only get worse and worse

This is such an important point about HRT that gets lost in the noise: you will feel whether or not it is right for you long before any "permanent changes" set in.

This is one of those areas of medicine where letting people experiment freely and without judgement is the single best path forward.

That said, if you're considering HRT, my advice is simple: DO IT.

HRT is one of the safest medical treatments there is, and you'll likely know if it's working for you pretty quickly. Within a few weeks, my quality of life had improved to the point where my wife noticed and commented on it.

the fastest way to kill motivation is to make your identity depend on the outcome. it's called ego involvement. when failing becomes failing as a person, your brain starts avoiding the whole thing. not because you don't care, but because you care too much.

you don't need lower standards. you need less self-worth tangled up in your goals. the work gets easier when it's not about proving who you are.
