NEW HALLOWEEN SONG!

I started writing this circa 2016, but I couldn't release a song about being in the closet without outing myself. 😅

I've finally gotten enough distance to be able to finish it without interposing my current perspective.

Both versions of me hope you like it. 😊

This is the second in a series of mask-required concerts with air purifiers and everything, and the first one sold out, so you might want to get your tickets sooner rather than later. 😊

I'm very excited about this. 😁

The concert will be taking place at Abrons Arts Center on the Lower East Side of Manhattan at 7 PM on Thursday, August 21, 2025.

If you can't make it in person, no worries, there will also be a livestream!

ONE WEEK FROM TODAY

A Covid-conscious concert from Positive Deviance, featuring a bunch of singer-songwriters, including... [checks notes] ...me!

Thanks to the pandemic, this will be my first full set in front of actual people, rather than a webcam. 😅

I do expect to be present at the second concert in the series? Rumor has it that that one's gonna feature some folk singer/songwriters.

I just hope it doesn't conflict with the night this August that I, a folk singer/songwriter, am supposed to be playing a concert in New York.

...oh, wait. Huh.

With Tom Lehrer's passing, I suppose this is a moment to share the story of the prank he played on the National Security Agency, and how it went undiscovered for nearly 60 years.

“What’s to-day, my fine fellow?” said Scrooge.

“To-day!” replied the boy. “Why, Livestream Day.”

“It’s Livestream Day!” said Scrooge to himself. “I haven’t missed it. The Spirits have done it all in one night.”

“And Aubrey Turner's Birthday,” added the boy.

“What a delightful boy!” said Scrooge.
My next YouTube livestream will be taking place this coming Sunday!

3 PM in Jersey City, 2 PM in Houston, 1 PM in Mexico City, noon in Seattle, 9 AM in Honolulu, and, umm, other times in other places. 😅

I don't have anything to announce at the moment, but also if you're in the NYC area, you might want to mark your calendar to keep the evening of August 21 clear. No reason!

After seeing the end of the episode, I (and many others it seems) found the GoFundMe for Ed (the man who shaved Erika's head). It has now surpassed its goal when it was a few thousand dollars short before the episode aired. Well done, gang. www.gofundme.com/f/memorial-a...

Great time to remind everyone that if you find a shop on Etsy that you like, google the name of it to see if they have their own website and buy direct from them!

Not only will they get more of the money but they may have more things to offer since they're not paying listing fees on their own site.

I closed my shop on Etsy two years ago because they made it so hard for a small store like mine to make any sales. And they've only gotten worse. Etsy sucks.

6. When Jay Edidin, a New York-based LGBTQ rights activist heard about the trans flag’s censorship from an article in The Gothamist, he took his own massive trans flag—which had, up until that point, been a window curtain in his home—and stood by the gate for hours.

It's Pride Month, so if there's a stream with two nonbinary musicians performing, you have to watch it. I don't make the rules!

My sibling and I once accidentally entered a spelling bee that Peter Sokolowski was judging. During it, he explained what a schwa is and said, "I fought the schwa and the schwa won." After the bee, my sibling and I wrote the following song. After years of cajoling, my sibling finally recorded it.

Sometimes on Roku, subtitles just randomly stop working mid-show — sometimes it doesn't work at all when I start a show — and I have to go to the home screen and back again and hope it works (it doesn't always). It's not on any specific app, so it has to be a Roku thing. It's incredibly frustrating.

The other day, I was asked if I wanted to spray my lawn in order to kill all the dandelions, and I was appalled at the idea. I legit love dandelions. They make my yard so colorful and have way more of a use than grass.
Weeds are amazing, if you think about them. You can’t stop them from growing. They just do it persistently. They find a tiny crack in the cement and suddenly boom, your yard is filled with bindweed.
