Free Planet began as a simple idea--"scifi GI Joe defending space Venezuela"--with a resource-rich but financially poor planet struggling to maintain its independence. It begins with the abduction of one of the planet's leaders.

2026 is already proving it more prescient than I would have hoped.

An independent planet with extensive fuel reserves, besieged by multiple intergalactic superpowers, dramatically outnumbered and outgunned.

In 2026, Free Planet is utterly essential reading; vol 1 is available now wherever books or comics are sold; #8 hits comic shops 1/14.

Focusing on the good part here: We've only scratched the surface of what comics, as a medium, can accomplish.

Comics can be so much more than ersatz teleplays, with narratives hammered into pages and panels; they're objets d'art and should be ideated as such from conception.
Won't lie it makes me feel a lot more confident about the possibilities of what you can still do in western comics seeing something that strident succeed.

Sucks the world is so evil it's prescient though
