These people have extreme disdain for artists and blame the perceived quality problems on some imagined cultural shift, when the cultural shift is consumerism and capitalism continuously squeezing out the people who make stuff and not being interesting in giving them time or space to make things.

SO much of the cultural and artistic nostalgia that society chases was just art made when people got paid to do it. Lavish movie posters made by human artists, video games made by people without sixteen different investment companies breathing down their neck, movies made by studios taking a chance.

i started only taking my adhd medication when I'm working or have appointments which made sense to have a break when i was employed but now I'm somehow going without medication most days bc I'm "not doing anything where i need it" except i do and then I'm suprised i get chores done when i take them

so like yea it's real but the way it's used by a lot of people it's not and it shouldn't be thrown around willy nilly for anyone engaging with the thing and we're kind of in a phase where people are re-evaluating how much of a problem it actually is in the real sense

the angle I've seen this the most from is more that just interacting with porn will get you called an addict and is used extremely inflationary. honestly similiar to video games where yes the addiction exists but the teen playing 2 hours a day w his friends as a hobby is not that

oooh that sounds nice though! i didn't see much hype for the anime so i wasn't sure if it would sell well but also online fandom bubbles and people actually buying things doesn't necessarily overlap so good to hear it's not as i expected
