"According to its sponsor Rep. Langworthy, H.R. 3699 is an effort to 'ban the bans'- but the bill goes much further than that, eliminating large swathes of commonsense health and safety protections, and threatening fundamental controls on energy prices."

"The energy efficiency gains we’ve scored in recent decades are a win for everyone. With rollbacks of efficiency standards cropping up in the headlines, it’s important to review just how far we’ve come…and how much better energy efficiency has made our lives."

Energy-efficient appliances can do more than just bring down energy bills: In concert, they can cut greenhouse gas emissions by 20% of the needed decrease for the world to hit net zero by 2050, according to a new study from @clasp-ngo.bsky.social

"Lowering or eliminating appliance standards & cutting incentives for high-efficiency products—especially at a time when manufacturing powerhouses are investing in U.S. markets—will have a negative long-term impact on domestic manufacturing growth."

“By attacking appliance efficiency standards, Republicans are making it clear their allegiances lie with the corporate executives that fund their campaigns, not with the constituents they represent who are struggling with high energy bills.”

Republicans take aim at DOE’s appliance efficiency program
The federal appliance and equipment standards program “has strayed far from its original intent and now yields the minimum energy efficiency benefits,” said Rep. Brett Guthrie, R-Ky.

We cannot meet our energy demands affordably without clean energy. Energy efficiency programs help reduce costs by reducing demand.

House Republicans’ energy appropriations bill undermines these goals by slashing the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy by nearly 50%.

I voted no.
If passed, H.R. 4626 will give Trump new powers to attack efficiency standards, raising costs for families & businesses -- as well as set new roadblocks for future administrations trying to update standards. Please help advocate against this harmful bill!
