This has not died yet. I am chipping away at creating textures drawn directly from preserved skin segments (mostly of the specimen called 'Lane', HMNS PV.1506) and attempting to match them to the overall shape and each other. I dread the deatiling process already. But we're getting somewhere.

Well-preserved Triceratops skulls have a sharp falloff on the rear frill from a vascular texture to "scooped out" cavities. It is likely these cavities were filled out by neck musculature. Many reconstructions overlook them, ending up with necks that are prorbably far too skinny.

These two models are almost ten years apart. First one was the first Triceratops I ever sculpted (for the Isle, at the time). Second one is the current in-progress model based on the mounted 'Hatcher' skeleton at the Smithsonian. Good to see how far I've come.

"Hatcher" is coming along nicely. It's taking forever to place the muscles, but I'd much rather do this approach now than carve away at a bigger block. Bonus appearance by my puppy boy, Ankylosaurus (who needs finishing too). 1/20 scale print, anyone? We'll see.

Reposing/articulating the Smithsonian Triceratops mount (available for download on their Sketchfab page: sketchfab.com/.../tricerat.... ) certainly was not on my bingo card for today. But here we are. A solid new baseline for me to work off of. For... reasons.

Oh whoops, I completely blanked on sharing the new isopod illustrations on here??? Anyway, here are Cubaris sp. Rubber Ducky, C. sp. Amber Ducky and C. sp. Cherry Blossom. The Rubber Duckies have already been turned into stickers, still need to set up the other two. #sciart #invertefest

Posting regularly is a struggle and my ADHD brain works on really bad object permanence. That being said, here is Suchomimus tenerensis, with which I got lost in scales today after trying to figure a few things out. Heavy reptilian influence and I like it!
