Most people go right as they get older. I keep going left. Must be dyslexic. I'm afraid I've got some bad news boys.

I have a lot of new followers so I need to make clear a rule that I've had for 20 years on social media. Unless I know you and/or you have my tacit approval, do not @ me or post directly to my TL. I will immediately block you.
Somebody(s) is going to need their cash back and the PE fund they gave it to is going to say, "...and it's gone."

I remember when Obama appointed Homan to run ICE deportations in 2013, and when gave Homan an award for extraordinary accomplishment in 2015.
There is absolutely zero chance that a man who took $50,000 in cash in a paper bag from an FBI agent on camera would have been appointed to any position by any other president.
Undoubtedly they've already rated $trillions of private equity dreck "AAA"

By the end of 2009, over half the collateralized debt obligations by value issued at the end of the housing bubble that rating agencies gave the highest "triple-A" rating to were "impaired".

At the last No Kings march in San Antonio, maybe every third chant was pro-Palestine. I don't know where that was coming from - not the organizers, for sure - but everyone joined right in.

Dem politicians should consider joining the American mainstream on this issue 🤷‍♂️
Can report back from the Charlotte No Kings that "free Palestine" is now, if not the normie lib position, then at least fully accepted among the normie libs. Lots of signs and flags scattered about, no apparent drama at all.

look I'm actually not really 'anti' the no kings stuff even if I hate the people running it but you people need to decide if this is 'we can't wait for the midterms, the time for voting is OVER' or if it's just a normie engagement thing because uh you know what the first thing implies right?

If you were out in the streets today, thanks. If you left feeling inspired, please seek out local ways that you can keep organizing with others.

I basically agree. There are a lot of good ways to criticize Israel, morally, strategically, cynically, genuinely, but the issue is that in the historical sense there was basically zero tolerance for substantive criticism and Mamdani's criticisms are substantive. The difference today: he is winning.

Folks griping about bsky as an "echo chamber"

You know what sounds nice to me? A bustling but peaceful village that kicks out nazis whenever they turn up. We tried 'social media as world public square' and it turns out it sucks. I want to try Vibrant Village With Nice People And No Nazis.

it would be cool if executives used clemency to systematically reduce prison populations (say, releasing most senior citizens each year) rather than isolated instances of political favoritism or capitulation to organizing

I think Dracula could defeat Frankenstein but I don’t think Count Chocula could defeat Frankenberry and that speaks to the richness of the characters
Do you ship them off to Guantanamo to disappear and never be heard from again? Do you make them sign a confession in English that they can't read saying they are gang members smuggling fentanyl into the US over 500 miles outside the ships range? Do they just die "of their injuries" after the attack?
So you've been using random fishing boats off the Venezuelan coast for target practice and to make snuff films for that creepy guy high up in the administration who likes that thing for whatever reason, and now you got a couple survivors. What to do?
I read these stories and pity any normal people still working inside the Trump administration. They're told to do random useless stuff based on a nothing meeting and have to be saying to each other, "Can you believe we're doing this? Why are we doing this?". www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-z...

Why the No Kings Protests Matter
The Trump administration has made it clear that it fears mass, nonviolent protests more than anything else.

Liberal democracy is the kinda democracy that's tied to capitalism. It's a "democracy" that can only survive with capitalism. We exist in DICTATORSHIPS OF THE CAPITALIST RULING CLASS. Our media, politicians, and everyday lives are bought and paid for by the ruling class (billionaires)!
