in a session with my therapist, she was commenting how she can't draw a stick figure -- then recalled a time when she could envision exactly what she wanted and it came out easily on the canvas. and she had no idea how she did it.

A Virtual Machine within linux that emulates windows may be better for long term use of CSP than using a wrapper like WINE.

Typically I find the issue is less about getting it to run, and more about getting tablet drivers to play nice with an emulated application (if you can get tablet drivers to function correctly in the first place)

There can be all other little idiosyncrasies about it that don't work quite right.

Star Trek is Philosophy Fiction set in Space, that occasionally uses speculative science to drive the philosophy element, but its core goal is Philosophy and Sociology.

Star Wars is an epic fantasy set in space that might pepper some speculative elements for fun.

Both are good. The End.

I know what Hard/Soft scifi is, and I don't care, because I think the distinction is arbitrary and I hate seeing it used as a vector to judge all space-based fiction.

Another Conway tale, though he’s a side character in this one: I had an English teacher Mr. L who was my sworn enemy. He absolutely hated me, & would find any reason to send me out of class to go sit in the hallway. Most commonly if I told a joke that garnered more laughter than his previous joke

as a neurodivergent & also weird kid school was hell for me, though these days I struggle to remember the names of all the teachers who bullied me. But the three that treated me like a person have never left me. Now more than ever, I hope you all try your best to stay unsquishable!

Personally, I think the terms 'hard' and 'soft' are really arbitrary anyway. Makes more sense to just call it what it is, speculative fiction.

Either way, I don't care for all the little spats of 'my franchise is more valid than your franchise', like it's all goofy fantasy, have fun y'all.

It's very funny to me when people get into rifts about Science fiction and the validity of it and they say things like Star Trek is hard scifi and Star Wars is soft scifi
