Queer, trans, non-binary, etc. Our existence is not up for debate. No time for that crap anyways, too busy trying to build a better world in the face of all odds. Current project: sand in the gears of tyranny. Follow ≠ support.

Suspensions are ricocheting around the legal immigration system in the last 48 hours. The broader picture so far has built out Trump's travel ban (the impact of which has been drowned out by other news).

Tl;dr: Miller and his team are working to block entire nationalities from getting legal status.

Sigh.

The only thing I can say that's not an expression of despair: we have memories. We will be here when the winds of tyranny have shifted once again. Revenge? No. Business as usual, all forgiven? Also no. Accountability and reparations? You betcha!
BTW, any story about a possible Northwestern capitulation should include this detail (screenshot is from the oped linked below)

Note that this statement does not focus on undocumented immigrants or those who might have been convicted of a criminal offense. Trump means *all* immigrants are problematic (except for, I guess, those white South Africans). To put it plainly: this is xenophobia and racism as government policy.
Trump: “I will permanently pause migration from all Third World Countries … denaturalize migrants who undermine domestic tranquility, and deport any Foreign National who is a public charge, security risk, or non-compatible with Western Civilization.“

The first official confirmation that Noem herself made the decision not to turn the planes around. A couple hundred men were tortured as a result — and soon after, the Supreme Court confirmed that the Trump admin’s Alien Enemies Act process was a total violation of due process.
BREAKING:

“After receiving that legal advice, Secretary Noem directed that the AEA detainees who had been removed from the United States before the Court’s order could be transferred to the custody of El Salvador. “

UPDATE: Boasberg orders the parties to submit plans for the "inquiry regarding a potential contempt referral," by tomorrow, "including names of possible witnesses and dates for hearings." (ACLU's Lee Gelernt smartly suggested waiting on the mandate from the DC Circuit before issuing any orders.)

By "operations" we mean a round of attacks, which is another way of saying an act of war. Make no mistake, the U.S. is the aggressor nation in any such scenario.
US operations against Venezuela to begin within days.

William Weiland is out as Assistant Director, he heading to the S.D.Va. US Atty's office (in what capacity I have no idea).

After renaming immigration judges as "deportation judges" (not what they're called by law), DHS, which acts as the prosecutor in immigration cases, is falsely claiming that people could do the job part-time "after hours"; except no, immigration courts are only open during the daytime.

They are literally firing all the judges they think might grant relief. They just fired a friend of mine a couple hours ago. They have no shame. The bastards want an assembly line for deportations and nothing more; rubber-stamping bootlickers who’ll yes’sir at every new diktat to deny.
Instead of hiring more immigration judges, the Department of Justice just posted an ad for "deportation judges." join.justice.gov

WHOA. The FBI was/is spying on a Signal chat for a New York immigration court watch group, claiming they were “anarchist violent extremist actors.”

Your reminder that the government is watching and don’t say anything in a big group chat you wouldn’t say on TV.

Absolutely incredible; after shooting Marimar Martinez 5 times and arresting her on claims that she rammed them and pulled a gun, prosecutors have now moved to dismiss ALL criminal charges against her and her codefendant.
New: the govt has moved to dismiss its assault case against Marimar Martinez and Anthony Ian Santos Ruiz, two people accused of "box[ing] in" a Border Patrol vehicle in Chicago on Oct. 4.

One agent shot Martinez, with evidence presented to the court that he later bragged about in text messages.
