Sleepers, we've been reading your feedback following the AMA on endgame and PvP. We will share a message from our Creative Director tomorrow to clarify our intentions and our vision.
If you're interested in the topic, stay tuned, we have news that we think you'll like!

Software is always just a means to an end.

Software isn't worth anything if it doesn't solve an actual problem.

Know your users. Know your product. And then build something that really matters.

The Dune: Awakening launch sure is a wild ride but it's all worth it 💛
I've been working on this on the Nitrado side. Fun times!
We can finally share with you that rentable private servers will be available on June 5th when Dune: Awakening launches into head start!

We do, however, want to manage expectations about how private servers work. Read all the details in our blog: bit.ly/DuneAwakenin...

Oh hey, #PitchYaGame

So this is a game about staring down thousands of rats in shining armor—but you're just a little bird with stolen swords you can barely use. Dynasty Warriors x DMC, with some EDF thrown in for spice.

If you outsource the core of your business you become an investor.

Do you wanna be an investor? Do you have the means to?
Question from a reader:

“Have you ever done any studies on the pros and cons of outsourcing literally all of your product development to a 3rd party?”

My answer:

Seen a few disasters like this.

What “pros?”

Lots of universal truth in here:

- The simplest tool that can do the job is the best tool for the job
- Bad craftsmen blame their tools

Working on SSH host certificates via Hashicorp Vault, authenticated through SPIRE/SPIFFE workload attestation. This is definitely the large scale automation setup I need for my [checks notes] three Raspberry Pis.

If you're being considered a "10x engineer" that simply means you've failed at elevating your peers above even 10% of your own efficiency.

You might think of yourself as a "rock star" or whatever but you sure as hell aren't a senior engineer.
Adding a "10x" programmer makes you slower.

What matters is the speed of the entire system, from idea to delivery. Speed cannot be improved by introducing one faster person. We're a group walking single file on a narrow cliff path.

me, climbing out of the lifeboat and back onto the deck: okay

guy, lowering the lifeboat: aren't you using that several times a day?

me: look buddy,

Here's a fun observation:

The actual challenge in writing is similar to software development. It's about developing a mental model, an *intent*, and that often has to simmer for a bit.

Jotting down the words, or the code, is trivial in comparison.

An AI can't develop your mental model for you.
I just

C'mon

The tool that gives you like 50-100 words when you're stuck is inside your skull!!!! Or maybe weed! Or a nice walk! Or literally anything else!

My credo when mentoring engineers is "good software is the software that fulfills the requirements" and it takes most software engineers *years* to truly embrace what that means.
Amusing outcome of "vibe coding" wave with AI (by people who have not written software professionally before)

Seeing the speedrun of why software development REALLY is hard

(it was never about writing code - even though most non-dev folks assumed it must have been!)

I think I'm gonna rewatch the last episode of Andor S2 today and then Rogue One. And then Episode IV.

I thoroughly love the costume design in Andor. They highlight that fashion is a result of societal and cultural norms and, objectively, does not make sense.

This here is as nonsensical as any real world tie.

In coding news, I've been using IntelliJ's "Full line code completion" plug-in for some prototypes and HOLY FUCK does it make me fast.

I am extremely skeptical of AI code assistance but this actually works for me - and it runs on the local machine.
