Now I have to wait another 90 minutes for the Longhorns game, where I will likely be let down yet again today.

That was a chickenshit choice and they deserved to miss that field goal.

Well that is an innovative way to stop the Tush Push

Team is falling apart. Bad coaching, bad decisions, bad execution.

Funny, when Dallas did that last week on a TD catch they didn’t call it offensive pass interference

I woke up really down, as we had to cancel our road trip to Virginia as my wife is not well enough to travel. But watching the Philly parade and posting about it here really cheered me up, and I am also lucky to have made some great friends on this site who I will see at Friendsgiving.

You know what, bringing all these Indiana high school kids to Philly to see that it isn’t some super scary city and that their parents are the ones living in a bubble is a good thing.

I think if every Philadelphia Bluesky user pitched in like 5 bucks, we could probably march as a group in next year’s Thanksgiving parade.

I actually saw the Four Tops (with all 4 original members including the almighty Levi Stubbs) and Temptations (with 3 original members but not Eddie Kendricks or David Ruffin) back in 1984. It was a great show!

It’s basically like “what if a small midwestern state capitol city had a parade except it’s a city of 1.6 million people”
Jordin Sparks, David Archeluta, Cameo, Quad City DJs, The Keystone Kid, GMA mascot Ray, the field marketing director for Dunkin’… I’d put the Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade up against anyone’s

Having Cameo perform at the Philly Thanksgiving parade should have hundreds of aunties and old heads doing the Electric Slide to “Candy”, not this.

Busta Rhymes on a Macys Thanksgiving Day float, what wonders exist. Last time I saw Busta on the streets of New York was CMJ 1992, when he was throwing bagged, empty 40 bottles at cars outside a hip-hop showcase that ended after a huge brawl and security firing warning shots.

One great thing about the Babes of Wrath/Sisters of Sin tag match is that Willow Nightengale is the veteran of the group, at age 31 and 10 years experience. It’s a young group of women that are still learning and growing. #aew #aewdynamite

Was supposed to be in Virginia with family around now, but various circumstances intervened to delay our trip. But I did get to go for a long walk around South Philly with the sun shining and no jacket for probably the last time in 2025 so at least that was something nice.

Cell phone companies: Here’s our latest model, with built-in AI you can’t turn off! It also automatically tracks your every movement, purchase, and body rhythm, and we sell that data to everyone!!

Also cell phone companies: Why is no one upgrading their old phones?

Some people are very good at writing sex and some people are good at believing that they are good at writing sex, the first is a tremendously impressive skill and the second is what makes for deeply uncomfortable author presentations at science fiction conventions
There's nothing wrong with literary porn, but some of the crap those guys wrote was "Have you actuallly ever HAD sex?"

Ok, my food hot take is:
Pie is vastly superior to cake. There is no bad pie except mincemeat.

Actually found some decent vinyl at the 2A today: Marshall Crenshaw s/t, Joe Jackson “I’m the Man”, Cheap Trick “Live at Budokan”, and Isaac Hayes “…to Be Continued”. Nothing highly collectible but good music and $1.50 each! There’s some decent 70s country I left behind, too.

I’ve been thinking a lot about getting back into blogging. It’s been a long time and I still have an old Wordpress account (2 actually, but the archaeology blog is retired). Is that still considered a good option? Is there some evil they’ve done I need to avoid? If so, where should I blog?

The failure/sabotage of the American empire as it relates to Reagan and deregulation
I figure Ken Burns has one, maybe two big documentary series in him before he fully retires. What do you think they should be? My votes include Football, Hip-Hop, World War 1, Reconstruction (though Skip Gates did this one well), Iraq/Afghanistan, 19th Century Expansionism.
