We lost Charles Kennedy ten years ago today.

A decade on I will campaign with his spirit in my heart

I/we WILL stand up for liberal values, even if it’s to stand up to our own in the process, and I/we WILL change hearts and minds via the grassroots and up.

So, let’s kick off with the horror show that was the “decision” last night.

I want to begin with acknowledging this was not a solo decision and I absolutely hold blame with the CEO and the outgoing President of the party.

The returning officer is known to be an ally and their hand was forced.

We also need to understand this contextually to the current management of how trans representation has been taken by those up top, in stark contrast to the policy created and voted on by fellow members

During my time on Federal board, to put it mildly, was miserable. This was not a space where operational work was shared and discussed across the exec. It was on a need to know basis, to be presented with outcomes already penned in, merely waiting for ratification.

During my tenure we were facing an influx of transphobes, who were at that time seeking kinship with the rich and contrarian. They were organising.

The “c-management” of our exec would not speak in terms to mitigate the hateful rhetoric driving to disrupt our work and also our values as a party.

One of the transphobes tried to devalue me as a sexual survivor. No support was offered. No heads up given, despite my name being used in a party court case.

Constantly feeling unable to speak, by agenda formation and just the culture that had been set by both Pres and CEO it was really hard.

Looked down upon throughout, despite this I raised concerns that without signalling a line in the sand they were calling our bluff and winning.

And well…

And well, that’s exactly what has happened, year, after year.

I take absolutely no pleasure in saying this but I was right.

My beloved party’s HQ acting by value of the bank balance have now allowed themselves to be scared of any litigation, have now placed themselves in the whim of a group of…

…people who will stop at nothing.

They lose at every conference floor vote, but they still seem to hold more agency and power than members who were on the actual national party executive. Using courts as a threat, foreign bodies to create their own ideological positions come true

I told myself to leave this chapter behind, that my work on the ground would be more important, certainly more invigorating than executive representation.

It’s also worth noting I was in an abusive relationship in this time and was nothing but isolated. At home and by my peers.

Feeling ashamed at the lack of force from my desk during this time I decided to leave this behind, but that’s not the correct move. That’s giving up.

I’m so far away from that time now I know exactly what I’m going to do and I want back in that room.

Mike Dixon. You need to listen up.

Attacked by transphobic members, offered zero support, it was a horrible time.

And now I see this happening to dear Rebecca.

I won’t tag for obvious reasons but if anything happens to her it WILL be the CEOs and Presidents fault.

This is now a welfare issue.

Many in the party like to label me as a troublemaker, my regret is that my nerves and troubles at home overwhelmed my brain, like a fire in my skull that prevented clear decisive action.

That’s what’s coming in 2025.

Because you can call us troublemakers if that what makes you feel better, the fact of the matter is the vast majority of the candidates on this ballot are disgusted.
