I really like my workplace and many of my coworkers but whenever someone rears their head with some misbegotten optimism, I want to spray their face with a water bottle like a cat I'm shooing off a kitchen counter. Knock all that "giving them the benefit of the doubt" off!

"In my time at OPB, my small, annual "merit" increases have rarely even covered the rate of inflation or other increases in cost of living. How they relate to the "merit" of my work is a mystery." -Allison Frost OPB producer

I'm rather bummed HBO has probably fixed all the Mad Men episodes they've uploaded. We all should have kept quiet for a while to see how they made it look like a guy lost his foot with a John Deere riding lawnmower.

My great aunt calling me suddenly while I'm out at a brewery is a stark reminder of why I implemented appointment calling for my mother some twenty years ago.

Amongst the numerous crazy things about the Tarantino/Dano/Anderson-by-extension beef is that P.T. Anderson has now made ten films, shows no signs of slowing & keeps getting better, whereas Tarantino put an arbitrary cap on his output, is close to a self-imposed deadline & feels almost out of steam.

Hobo Johnson is still performing live, for some reason, and I know this because I just saw his name on a marquee here in Portland, because of course there's an audience for Hobo Johnson in Portland, Oregon.

I feel I carried myself well at the black tie holiday party last night, but I also felt I drunkenly told the senior management of my parent company a *bunch* of frank truths that I'll have to see how they shake out on Monday.

The two questions I always want to ask people complaining about sex scenes being inessential to the plot:

1. Was the last sex you had essential to *your* plot?
2. If not, would you prefer to have skipped it?

Right now, Oregonians should listen very hard to @opbkmhdcreators.bsky.social union. The voices you hear on the radio at OPB are generally poorly-compensated, some working two jobs, and the wage gap between the CEO and the actual journalists is a gap of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

On the day that @opb.org CEO Rachel Smolkin posted this video, saying OPB’s funding gap of $5 million was closed, I was also told by the Chief Content Officer that Hush was canceled. Eighty percent of my income, and my health insurance - gone. I was given no reason for the cancellation. 1/x

OPB has closed this year’s $5 million budget gap created when Congress ended federal funding. Our work is not done. A strong future for free and fair journalism requires your support.

lol you'll never convince me a huge part of the reluctance isn't that there's no legal way to make UBI white-only.

Lotta white people in this country are happy to lose as long as nobody Black or brown wins.
I wish more people didn't get mad because "why can't I have $1000 a month for nothing!"
And instead went "why not universal basic income?"

I made two pound cakes -- one for yesterday's gay Thanksgiving (which was *awesome*) and the other for my co-workers -- and the disappointment I felt and spread to others at forgetting to bring the cake to work this morning was palpable.

My station's parent company made a PNW version of the holiday yule log and it's kinda one of the most brilliant ideas I've heard from them since I started working there.

I'm worried about getting and giving the stink-eye. I'm uncertain my food isn't messed with. I'll still feel obligated to tip.

Just a bad dining experience all around.
Personally I would prefer that my haters NOT be my waiters at the table of success. I just want to enjoy my meal
