I really want people to think about this. After all the insane lawsuits, all the threats, all the bullshit weve seen from this admin and the targets who kneeled in fear, an average Joe called the president a Pedophile protector to his face and didn't get touched. That's the Power of a union.

I Had a Dream Journalism Job. Here's Why I Quit.
The rot that hollowed out trust in corporate media finally reached OPB. I had to go.

I learned a lot today in my Mono Space Gallery Hours but the biggest lesson of all is that I *really" need to get a rolling stool. They're immensely fun.

My gallery hours at Mono Space, the hi-fi sound gallery, is tomorrow afternoon from Noon-5pm. If you're in Portland, you should roll through and hear Steely Dan's 'Aja', Flying Lotus' 'Until the Quiet Comes', Joe Sample's 'Carmel', and more in the best possible quality.

Since moving here, I've been getting to know Portland neighborhood by neighborhood by covering its record stores for work, and I'm the voiceover for this month's feature.
Check out our latest Record Store Rundown for Echoes in Space Records in the Foster-Powell neighborhood-- the well-designed, Black & BIPOC-owned gem of a shop that's made for DJs by DJs.

As someone who uses the Arc CMS for work, I can totally understand why it hasn't taken off and this puts another puzzle piece in place for why we are where we are in the world today
We know one part of it: after he took over they tried and failed to become a software company. They spent hundreds of millions developing the Arc Content Managing System, claiming they could then license it for $100 million a year, it's estimated to have taken in a tiny fraction of that.

this is kinda what's making it hard to think clearly about. seems like power and wealth just collapse all metaphors like some kind of black hole for meaning

This isn't mine, and I can't definitively find the original source. But I love this little bit of wisdom:

"If you're a fifteen-minute walk from a coffee shop, but the server there has to drive an hour to get to work, you don't live in a walkable city. You live in a theme park."
For all the fearmongering about capital flight from New York City, there’s an exodus few want to talk about: working people.

Sky-high rents and outrageous child care costs are already pushing families out of the city they keep running.

That’s what we have to change.

Every now and then, I forget that the best metric for this President of the United States is if the resulting action is good or bad television.
The President of the United States appears to have begun a journey toward deciding that federal thugs murdering innocent people does not make the great TV he assumed it would. I wish we did not live in a world in which this counts as encouraging news, but it does.

On top of this, it feels so literally Orwellian! All this IRL algospeak euphemisms truly feel double plus ungood.
Now that TikTok has changed ownership in the U.S., it's as good a time as ever to again say how much I truly hate algospeak euphemisms like "unalived" and whatnot. I wish people would knock that off.

This episode had so much going on, but somehow I was most shocked by so much smoking cigarettes indoors
Tonight's episode of INDUSTRY had at least three gasp-out-loud moments. This show is disgusting, and the best thing on TV.

Bc a lot of those (mainly white) folks don't hate the machine. They hate it being pointed at them. They want the police. They want ICE. But not this version of it. It's not abolish they fear. It's the idea behind it. Losing their way to control and punish the "others".
Question for the crowd:

Why do you think moderates, liberals, and other folks are scared or have an aversion to the word “abolish”?
