Man this @fieseler.bsky.social long-read for @canarymedia.com is fantastic, and long both due to its length and the fact you will need to walk away from your device, scream into the sky for 5 minutes and return to continue reading

So much to break down here.....

It’s it just me saying it … over two decades of unbroken Labor government in the ACT has entrenched racism towards Indigenous people…

Indigenous people in Canberra are more likely to have experienced racial prejudice than anywhere else in the country…

Noam Chomsky made it very clear that he was a scumbag when he denied the Khmer Rouge genocide back in the 1970s: if you’ve been trying to deny the obvious about him ever since, well, that’s on you.
Well, there's a photo I never expected to see in my life. Noam Chomsky palling around with Steve Bannon.

After 7 episodes my opinion on Pluribus hasn’t changed

It’s a very fun, very well written, incredibly well acted take on a bunch of sci-fi tropes we’ve already seen a gazillion times. It isn’t really introducing anything groundbreaking to the genre but still well worth watching and I like it a lot
Ok so this is gonna be an unpopular opinion but I’ve watched the first 3 episodes of Pluribus and I thought it was…fine! It’s pretty derivative of a lot of other sci-fi and definitely doesn’t feel groundbreaking to me (like, say, Severance does). But I enjoyed it and I’ll keep watching.

imagine if courts treated everyone else as leniently as these white collar males. If a man who assaults Aboriginal children can be released into the community… the prisons we could close! The trauma we could prevent! The resources we could reinvest in community!

This brooding London outfit’s Which Direction Goes The Beam was one of the most criminally unheralded albums of the year: a sprawling, uneasy bridge between Unwound-esque post-hardore, driven kraut, and the gripping darker folk fringes.

Just letting you know that a popular Australia male poster here & on the bird site - who has connections to a well known musician - has sent a female friend of mine unsolicited explicit DMs without her consent.

She had not communicated with him before & is very upset.

Be aware that he does this.
