I’m Jewish. I don’t normally post about this. But I’m tired and I’m sad.

I’m not religious. My more religious relatives had their phones off on Thursday and learned what happened from the security guards already present at every synagogue. Their presence has long been normal and necessary.

The #NoMouse Challenge is a global effort to raise awareness about accessible web design. Try using your website without a mouse. Use the keyboard instead. Is it possible to access all features and operate all buttons, sliders, and other controls?

This was a good indication of good things to come. 12 weeks later and I’m still super happy. This has been a great move for me.

Also one of our devs is getting a new puppy soon which can only further improve things on the pet front
Had a lovely first day in my new service design job. Great vibes and multiple pet sightings.

Regular plea not to use emojis as bullet points!

It makes your post inaccessible, or at least extremely bizarre, for screen reader users and people using text to speech software.

Examples:

➡️ reads as 'Black Rightwards Arrow'
👍 reads as 'Thumbs Up Sign'
💡 reads as 'Electric Light Bulb'

It’s worked out that I’m doing improv 3 times in the space of a week. A couple of local meet-ups (one established and one new) and one with Hoopla who got me into improv in the first place.

This is a good week!

1. October or November for #TFU2026?
