Why do I have to tick this box on the BA passenger details form when we’re not going to the US?

I assume it’s intended as some kind of harmless catch-all, but it made me panic that I’d somehow booked flights to the wrong destination.

One for @cjforms.bsky.social I think!

He’s mostly made of cat and catnip

This display screen is evidently feeling a bit ‘king frustrated 😁

So I guess we’re assuming that if a cat can use Google, they can also count to 3

Fairly sure this was a gigantic flower and not an alien cleverly hiding in Oxford’s Botanic Gardens

There’s a figurine! Which I obviously had to buy.

I’m sure everyone’s sick of aurora photos but I’m so happy I finally saw this for myself. It was much more vivid through the camera obviously but we could actually see it without.

Someone is being Very Helpful today. He stood on my keyboard and revoked permissions while IT were fixing a problem. And now he’s clearly ready to take notes for me

This is… not what I thought ‘towards you’ meant. Not entirely necessary or helpful instructions here. (Had a bit of fun with the alt text.)

Looks like someone missed the memo about using an appropriate tone in error messages. Yes, that really is a sad face emoticon on a blue screen of semi death

Here’s what was in the window when I walked past.

Proof of cat. I had fun with the alt text.

Morning @ukgovcamp.bsky.social crew! Joining the sleepy train station selfie bandwagon.

Can’t wait to see you all ✨

Also in Eventbrite weirdness: what’s the difference between orders (which lists the number of things I’m going to) and tickets (the number of things I’m going to minus 1)? One of these orders is somehow appearing on both these accounts as previously mentioned, just to add to the confusion.

I just went down a rabbit hole looking at old versions of GOV.UK and found this amazing pop-up (here: web.archive.org/web/20120207...). The ‘Thanks, I’ve read the warning’ button is red even though it confirms that and closes the pop-up.

Another book I have on the go is Her Majesty’s Royal Coven by Juno Dawson. This was a bit aggravating though. A webpage designed like a printed letter with ‘Click here’ instead of meaningful link text. And the department name in all caps on the first paragraph there. No!

Well, this was confusing to see in December.

That first example was in an email from Trainline. Here’s another one, this time from Eurostar. If you come across more examples of the word ‘just’ being used in content to imply something is simple, easy, quick, trivial and/or reasonable, please send them my way.

Please share examples of the word ‘just’ being used in content. From emails, webpages, error messages, apps, anything. I want to write a blog or give a talk on this or something, and I’m on the lookout for examples. Anything that implies what’s being suggested is easy, simple and/or quick. Like this

If you see this you have to share an image from your phone without explaining it

In my team we’ve been debating which is actually colder: a still-frozen snowman or a draughty conference room. And that’s not even the worst one.

Except now they’ve started doing really absurd things like this.

I wish all the people who design audio and video apps would just agree on ONE order and position for their skip and rewind links. They all do this differently so I can’t rely on muscle memory and end up, say, restarting chapters by accident. Here are just two examples from apps I use regularly.
