I read this piece on antisemitism in Berlin universities and it left me asking questions. Did Maltz talk to the TU AStA people? could she crosscheck what they did say? She also cites RIAS without thematizing the grave methodological concerns about their studies.

German academia: great place to work? You should think twice before giving it a try: Permanent positions are very rare, most scholars have to drop out after some precarious years. @dianakwon.bsky.social has written a great piece about this for @nature.com and also talked to yours truly. #IchBinHanna
How to stop the revolving door of German academia
Germany is one of the most popular destinations for students and scholars worldwide, but those pursuing academic careers face significant hurdles to success.

To avoid waiting uselessly in the (hot?) airport jetty for 5-10 minutes, just ask the ground crew once you get to the gate to start boarding ONLY AFTER they got the OK from the plane crew.

Some ground crews just don't care.

Most relevant for those boarding first who often pay for better service.

Thanks to Marybeth’s patient questions, our conversation is concise, even punchy. Thank you, @historyworkshop.org.uk ! Very curious what colleagues from decolonization history will say.

“Powerful, urgent, and deeply moving.” Dagmar Herzog, author.

People Without History are Dust explores same-sex desire in the Holocaust, telling the gripping stories of queer Jews that have been long silenced by the homophobia of survivors.

In Vienna, I also attended a presentation on Martha Geiringer, a lesbian Jewish zoologist who escaped to Belgium, fell in love with a woman physician, and was murdered in Auschwitz. Mark Verschooris researched the story and wrote a book:

Amazingly, almost everything in this skeet is wrong. The myth of Spinoza's "excommunication" is mostly a product of twentieth century post-Christian wishful thinking.
Today is the birthday of Baruch Spinoza, the great 17th-century Dutch Jewish rationalist philosopher. One of the leading lights of the Dutch Golden Age, Spinoza's writings were often controversial in his day, and he was (and remains) excommunicated from his religious community. #💙📚 #Booksky
