About 3 days ago was the National Coming Out Day. I've never done this before on social media...

In real life, people don't take me seriously when I tell them that I dated both girls and boys. I've never been flamboyant about my homosexuality so people assume that I'm straight but I'm not. #lgbt

Signed out of “X” on all my accounts. I’m not going back. Fuck that noise.

It may be because I am bad at maths but I am with David Marr in thinking that computational theories add nothing unless they say what predictions they make that other theories don’t, and which predictions, if wrong, prove the theory to be wrong. This includes the free energy principle.

If you mean it is just maths then Of course it is fine so long as the maths is correct. If it is a principle that is meant to apply to the workings of the brain, then I stick with what I said.

Research shows breathing can change our exteroceptive & affective perception, but how? Pleased to share our latest study, led by my PhD student Malthe Brændholt w/ Daniel Kluger, where we investigated the cognitive mechanisms using computational modeling! 🧠📈 www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

Of course, if there is no breathing, there is no perception (joke).

Since I was soaking from the rain and flood, the professor told me to go home after I came late. I was the only student excused from public speaking and leading the group, and allowed to do so the next time. 😭 I was also given a free towel by a random passenger omw. Student life in 🇵🇭 is very hard.

I don’t agree with all of it - there are plenty of straw men in there, IMO - but the theme of the collision between scientific progress and our basic values is maybe even more relevant today…

I'm Gen Z (Zillenial) but when I talked with 20 year olds at a matcha shop about old cartoons, flip phones, and events like 9/11...they had no idea what I was talking about. We're like in the same generation but they made me feel old. Smart phones changed the era A LOT.

If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.
Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?
2? Questions
I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

When I was younger I used to hand out free brain stickers during book fairs. Here are some of the works by other artists from our Neuroscience organization. 🇵🇭

Reading Thiel, Yarvin, Peterson et al. makes you realise what passes for intellectual iconoclasm these days is all absolute bollocks. Why anyone gives any of these people the time of day let alone credibility is baffling.

In 2018, Charles Murray challenged me to a bet: "We will understand IQ genetically—I think most of the picture will have been filled in by 2025—there will still be blanks—but we’ll know basically what’s going on." It's now 2025, and I claim a win. I write about it in The Atlantic.
Your Genes Are Simply Not Enough to Explain How Smart You Are
Seven years ago, I took a bet with Charles Murray about whether we’d basically understand the genetics of intelligence by now.
