*FREE WRITING WEBINAR RECORDING*

At Stanley Road, we have developed an approach to writing that we believe aligns with many elements included in the DfE's Writing Framework.

If you'd like to watch a webinar on this, complete the form at this link...

The Writing Framework has just been published, and I'm very pleased to have been part of the sector panel which helped produce this important document.

I'm optimistic that the framework will help leaders to further develop the teaching of writing in their schools.

We don't. The majority of our pupils do not have English as their first language, so we think it is more pressing for them to learn this than add another language in the mix. Waiting until Y5 and 6 works well in this regard. Nothing in the NC says they have to study another language in Y3 and 4.
We think it works well in primary as a foundation for learning a modern language in KS3 and to build understanding of the development of English over time. Ultimately, we think Latin is just worth knowing for its own sake. We teach it for an hour a week in Y5 and 6 and follow the Minimus scheme.
Thank you, Simone. Very pleased that you felt we were worth a second visit!

Today I was lucky enough to visit Stanley Road Primary School for the second time. The calm atmosphere, polite children and very high standards have blown me away again.

#TDaPEManchester - The content taught in the summer term is least likely to be remembered long term as it is the least likely to be retrieved in the following year or term. @andrewpercivaled.bsky.social 🙌🏻
