I was a Squeeze fan back in the day. 45 singles at first, because that's what us punky types bought. Squeeze were working class lads, smart punk adjacent.

This new album featured songs Glenn Tillbrook & Chris Difford wrote when they were teenagers, but never recorded! Here's a pretty song.

BREAKING: After we sued, DHS withdrew a subpoena seeking personal information about our client who criticized DHS' treatment of a man seeking asylum.

This is a win not just for our client, but for everyone’s First Amendment right to speak out without fear of government retaliation.

It's not just not a problem, it's awesome. It makes for a rich, varied culture. Great food and complex art. A deeper view of history and politics.

The trick is that they're a crucible for sincerity; self-seriousness or schmaltz would call them like wolves scenting blood. But when a song or a performer could humble themselves to a state of child-like play, actual magic could happen, because you'd see something true:

Talked this week about why removing the fascist boot from your neck will help you find a much bigger audience and, also, your soul.

"There's a reason the Washington Post is going to die before The Onion becomes one of the biggest newspapers in the country: They licked the boot, and we kicked back."

The play is never done because it’s awful, a total mess, the work of at least 6-8 writers. This is the bit Shakespeare wrote. We know for sure because it’s in his hand. Even if we didn’t have that, though.. I saw it the only time it was on, I think - this scene leapt off the stage

i know that this is an unpopular take, but everyone starting their own newsletter as a revenue stream is not a sustainable model for writing and reporting or for people who love and want to pay for media.
A lot of people cannot just start a paid newsletter or become freelancers to sustain their careers. The sports, metro, and international desks did work that requires *team* resources, like legal checks, documents, access to archives, and long-term beat experience.
