I think what makes that article also interesting is it doesnt lazily only tie the issue to how men view their role in a partnership. Anything that doesnt interrogate how this is a both sides issue is shallow and not worth discussing. Resentment exists on both sides.

I hear you and acknowledge the space you're talking about. I still think we HAVE to do better at finding ways to take care of ourselves. We have to MAKE the time, even when its inconvenient or seemingly impossible.

I continue to wait for the point that more Black Men will be outraged at how many of us are dying at such young ages. We deserve to live long lives. Reading about us dying in our 50s & 60s should be transcendently aggravating. That people just shrug and are dismayed for a moment is even moreso.

Heartbreaking: Neo-soul legends Angie Stone and D’Angelo both passed away in 2025, just 7 months apart. Stone died in March at 63. D’Angelo died today at 51. They shared a son together. An entire generation’s soundtrack, gone. Rest in power to both 🕊️💔
