Go, Jean! 💪🏼

Still dark here so we'll see but my soil here at home is pretty good and takes in the water. Am a bit worried for the burn zones. Hope they don't experience mud slides.

My saved seeds tend to do alright. Not sure what I'm doing that makes it so.

🤗 We've been garden buddies a long time, haven't we

Saving any seeds from this year's garden?

Can you believe it's actually raining here! Listening to it now. It's been so long since we've had rain. 🌧

Tom Bowman has held his Pentagon press pass for 28 years. He says the Pentagon's new media policy makes it impossible to be a journalist, which means finding out what's really going on behind the scenes and not accepting wholesale what any government or administration says. n.pr/4q87Jwb

In Portland, an ambulance was summoned to the ICE office to treat an injured protester (not clear how he was injured). But when the patient was loaded inside, ICE officers refused to let the ambulance leave and threatened to shoot the ambulance driver: www.wweek.com/news/2025/10...
Documents Allege a Federal Agent at Portland ICE Threatened to Shoot an Ambulance Driver
Feds delayed medics who had come to pick up an injured protester. Then, according to confidential incident reports, the agents became aggressive.

🌿THE 7 FLOWERS OF AUTUMN🥣

Mirroring the '7 Herbs of Spring' (七草の節句), consumed for good health and luck in January, come the '7 Flowers of Autumn', known as 'Aki-no-Nanakusa' (秋の七草/秋の七種).

These plants are mostly a feast for the eyes and not the belly.
#Japan #Kyoto #秋の七草
Sweets inspired by Japanese bellflowers. A selection of dried sweets for teatime... red dragonflies and bush clover symbolise the coming of autumn. The last is in the shape of a 'Genji Window' (itself inspired by Murasaki Shikibu's visit to Ishiyama-dera). An unusual sweet that symbolises the blustery weather that typically arrives with autumn. A grass is depicted almost flat, as if it has been pushed down by the wind. Another sweet inspired by Japanese bellflowers. The flower is branded onto the delicately purple gyuhi (a softer version of mochi) which surrounds a white bean paste interior.

Welp she really outdid herself for our 8yo's bday 🍽️🎂

Probably should have gone with a less sweet frosting but oh well, our blood sugar will eventually go back down

The best part of the Fedco description: "Ray learned seed saving from his Uncle Harold who grew a tomato vine from a seed he picked out of his teeth while on the plane back from a different trip to Italy."👀🤣
