But the good news is, by doing this, we defeated racism in the UK.
Government has now - belatedly -published the impact assessment for the changes to skilled worker and care worker visas announced in May.

Impact is estimated between -£2 billion and £-10 billion (central - £10 billion).

Welcome to Britain, a country so short of dentists that an MP's 87-year-old mum pulled her teeth out with pliers. Also a country with thousands of foreign-qualified dentists who can’t work until they pass an exam so oversubscribed it’s like trying to book Glasto tickets. www.ft.com/content/f4e5...

My dad abhors any negative comments about immigrants. Asked him recently why he’s so strong on it: ‘Because we’re always happy to take the rich and clever ones. Which means it’s not about disliking immigrants. It’s about disliking the poor and vulnerable. And that’s a bad human instinct.’
This is so disgusting.

Racism allegations could derail right-wing populist Nigel Farage’s bid to become Britain’s next PM | CNN
Former schoolmates of UK politician Nigel Farage have publicly accused him of racist and antisemitic behavior during his teenage years. He denies the claims, but could they dent his rising popularity?

Reform's policy is mass deportations - but they're moaning about a larger number of people leaving the country? Are they sad that they won't get to lock them up and thump them first? It's much cheaper if they leave voluntarily!

(also the main factor here is the *bigger* drop in numbers *arriving*)

That is a huge drop. Huge.

Starmer will now play the 'look-what-we-achieved' politics of this brilliantly, everyone will calm down, sensible immigration policies will emerge, and Farage will disappear.

Narrator: 'Meanwhile on Planet Earth....'
NEW: Net migration falls sharply to 204,000 in the year to June.

That’s a fall from 649,000 in the year to June 2024. It is a drop of nearly 80% from its 2023 peak.

If you have used a racist term and need somone with backward views to defend you, Nigel Farage is your man.
Nigel Farage asked about Reform MS Laura Anne Jones (who the Senedd Commissioner found had used a racist term in a staff WhatsApp chat in August 2023 while discussing TikTok writing: “No chinky spies for me.”)
"Well, she used a word that colloquially, probably was meant in a nice way 20 years ago."

Labour has completely capitulated the ground to the far right, the racism & the hate.

We no longer have a conversation AT ALL about how we need immigration & when we cut it, we pay the price. #r4today

Why is this not part of the discussion on Rachel Reeves balancing her books & stalled growth?

For every 100,000 drop in net immigration, the OBR adds £7bn to the deficit. #r4today
