well quite - how could that possibly work?
alunlewis.bsky.social
ah yes but you see they're not based on the current opinion polls but rather on the representation in the place he's asking the questions.

You don't have to take this crap
You don't have to sit back and relax

I never met him though I saw him once in Norwich market during the 1997 election supporting Charles Clarke. He's a heroic figure to my mind a brave, decent man and a staggering orator. Probably the last of the breed.

but everyone has one (decent) novel in them

Ian McEwan should have stuck to short stories. First chapter of Enduring Love, Child in Time etc excellent, the rest of the book meh. (I will make an honourable exception for Atonement)

This is great and speaks to the incoherence at the heart of their offer 'free marketeers that cut you off from the free market on your doorstep' a business centric party that f@cks business, a party of aspiration that hobbles the young.

I agree. They are languishing at around 20% in the polls. There is nothing to lose

it may not be a crime, but as the Swedish have found it is hugely problematic. This is so irresponsible and demonstrates neatly why Jenrick should never be anywhere near power

He will have a great legacy actually including the relisting of listed buildings in 1980 following the Firestone scandal. Proper old school Tory - you may not vote for them but they weren't just destroyers.

Also, don't they have rather a lot of oil?
alunlewis.bsky.social
perhaps it's so secret it has been put into action, but no-one knows... shhh

I’m not sure even Cleverley could sign up to this
alunlewis.bsky.social
A question then. How many current Tory MPs who will also find this insane will conclude that both their principles and their career would be best served by defecting to lib Dems?
alunlewis.bsky.social
I would as well. Maintain your principles and keep your seat. (If you go early enough)

Just seen Badenoch's statement that all Tory candidates will need to sign up to leaving ECHR at the next election. Now surely there are a sizeable number of centrist Tory PMs facing a LD threat in that election that will simply decide to defect to LD on that basis. Isn't this a huge risk?
