I like sports, music, movies, history and most of all, laughter. Big fan of Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes and Booker T. & the MGs. Favorite movie is Airplane.

I support democracy.
It's easy to see how the Mayor-elect won.
Mamdani: Oftentimes when we win elections, we tell people to go home and just trust us. But the message really has to be that we want you to come along with us… That’s something we’ve been looking to share with New Yorkers: We want to not only win with New Yorkers, but also govern with New Yorkers.

And in other news, I have won the "Al Strauss Award," given to the best Al Strauss that lives at the same address as me.

Charges dropped in Georgia and Trump gets away with it yet again.

I don't blame Trump for doing all the crap he's done his entire life. I blame the people that let him get away with it and that is a long list.

Look at what Canada is doing and know they are not alone. Think about what it means to the US economically - unless the next administrations [note the plural] solidly reject MAGA, it will hurt us for decades.

If the Epstein files show you have committed a sex crime against children (or adults, for that matter), you need to go to prison.

Think back to how you felt a year ago when Trump was reelected.

Now think about how you feel after last night's election.

You volunteered. You went to protests. You didn't check out.

You put in the work required for our democracy — and it's paying off.

Remember this.

Even if the man is a suspect, no one, including the police officer, was in danger. This is not the way these things are done. I hope the cop is fired and faces charges of his own.

Makes me wonder what else this police officer has done.
WTF 🤬

A police officer in Baltimore, Maryland, attempted to run over and kill a civilian who refused to answer their questions.

I'd really like to know what the operator of the bulldozer thought as he started demolishing the East Wing of the White House.

How could the media NOT know it was going to happen in advance?

I hope someone does a thorough checking for listening devices once the work is complete.

The Constitution is not self-enforcing.

The only thing holding our Republic together are our norms.

And the only thing that enforces those norms is The People.

No one is coming to save us.

It's entirely up to us.

I attended my first protest today! There were at least 500 well-behaved loyal Americans in Northfield, MN (!) and the main speaker was Richard Painter, who worked in W's administration.

Let this be a reminder that corporations will always put themselves first. They don't care about you and are not capable of it. People within a company may care about you but not the company itself, no matter what you are told.

Last night, I saw 90-year-old Herb Alpert perform. It was a terrific show from start to finish and he was on stage for 1 hour, 45 minutes. Impressive!

Authoritarianism is boring.

My American friends believe that dictatorships are dramatic with public executions and whatnot. Unlike the movies, dictatorships are unexciting. Life goes on: people get groceries and struggle with bills, as usual.

Losing agency in your own society is mostly boring.

Hi everyone,

I live in a blue state (for now). My senators, congresspeople and governor are all Democrats.

Besides donating money, what actions can I take to help the fight for democracy?

Keep it up, people! Way to go!
Omg, you did it! ABC just announced that “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” will return on Tuesday after the late-night host’s suspension became a flashpoint for free speech. We estimate that around 250,000 of our supporters canceled their Disney+ and Hulu accounts in protest. The pressure worked, money talks!
