Australia’s TGA has added the new Comirnaty LP.8.1 COVID-19 vaccine, targeting the LP.8.1 variant.

It’s recommended annually for adults 18–64 who aren’t severely immunocompromised and is free for all residents.

It notes: “Gene concentrations per 1,000 people are low in all catchments.” Below is Figure 11, consisting of four small line graphs showing normalised COVID-19 gene concentration per 1,000 people over time (June 2024 to December 2025): Bondi: Levels start around 6,000–8,000 in mid-2024, fluctuate with several dips and small peaks, then steadily decline toward near-zero by late 2025. Liverpool: Shows a sharp drop early in the period, then fluctuates between 2,000–6,000 before gradually decreasing to very low levels by late 2025. Quakers Hill: Shows high early readings around 10,000, followed by months of low-to-moderate fluctuations and a small rise mid-2025 before dropping close to zero by December 2025. Burwood Beach (Hunter): Initially moderate levels that trend downward throughout the period, with small periodic spikes, ending near zero by late 2025. It is thought that the increased rate of mutation of mpox is related to something called

“host (us) APOBEC3”.

Inflammation activates APOBEC3.

COVID-19 induces inflammation.

Severe C19 is associated with increased APOBEC levels.

Needs more investigation of course…

Should you wear a mask if you've got symptomatic flu? YES. If you wear it at home *from the onset of your symptoms*, your family members are much less likely to catch flu from you (but you must avoid unmasked co-sleeping and eating around same table - have your meals alone). 1/
