Taiwanese singer Frankie Kao released his Chinese cover of the ABBA classic in 1981 (with brand new lyrics).

Taiwanese-American singer Kris Phillips released a cover of this song in 1986 and that was the version that became popular in China.

yeahhh. a foundational piece of this movement its insistence that trans people are unreliable narrators, even on ourselves. this limits our ability to spread info outside our own circles, however true said info is! if your credibility has not been eroded in this way you gotta pick up the baton

I guess it's not surprising that folks think this is acceptable when people who don't read classical Chinese (or insert other Asian languages) are frequently allowed to publish professional "translations".
