The apocalyptic flood in southern Thailand has started to recede. Unfortunately there's been a lot of casualties (numbers not final, 33 last I heard), many of them children and elderly.

Devastating floods leaving long tail of destruction and impacts on Indonesia and Sri Lanka - this will not be over when the flood waters recede
ALERT!

I want to draw everyone’s attention to the recent flash flood in the northern part of Sumatra, Indonesia and parts of Malaysia

Check out this flood monitoring map to see how bad it is:

Anticipating climate impacts on nutrition through climate–crop nutrient modelling - Nature Climate Change
Climate change influences not only crop yields but also crop nutritional content, which is currently not simulated by process-based crop models. This Perspective proposes a way forward to integrate nu...

🌍 Our new review shows how:
(1) Climate shocks hit food, water + health systems
(2) All forms of malnutrition are at risk
(3) Near-term events + long-term warming both drive risks
(4) Building resilience through food, social + nutrition systems is urgent. 🔗 shorturl.at/WmZki

Achieving similar (or greater?) crop yield with less mineral fertiliser and pesticides? this new paper proposes a useful framework – with examples - to quantify the contribution of ecosystem services.
In a new paper, we propose the 'ecological yield gap' as a framework to strengthen collaboration between agronomists and ecologists in our quest to enhance on-farm ecosystem services in ways that effectively sustain crop yields while minimising input use:
