Noticed "despite despising", how similar those words are. Looked them up and they're indeed related, with basic meaning of "look down on with contempt"; "despite" evolved from that in a sense of "in defiance of". Bit of etymology for the day. 💁🏻‍♀️

A lot of comments on Mars rovers or Moon landings, but it's important to remember that the planet NASA studies most is Earth. This is less about cutting flashy things like moonwalks and more about keeping communities in the dark on climate, weather, agriculture, pollution, natural hazards, and more.

wplace protip: If you want people to help out with something you're working on, they need to know WHAT to draw. So, solid colors or an obvious pattern: a stranger with pixels to spare can just jump in and go. Otherwise you need to provide a reference.

Unfortunately, I know which server you're talking about. Fortunately, whatever kollective power they get by congregating there also makes it easy to block that server en-masse; and my feed got a little less dumb after doing so.

Mastodon's been fine from what I've experienced of it thus far. (Not crawling with Leftist types nearly as much as Bluesky.) The trouble is choosing 'which' Mastodon. 💁🏻‍♀️ The closest to a default is mastodon.social, which I went with; there's good arguments to use different ones, but… which?

Over on Mastodon those types tend to congregate on an instance called "kolektiva" something, which can be blocked altogether, as I did. So considerate of them to filter themselves out!

Costs that will be paid by the artist, not everyone; and with benefits beyond just the result itself, such as the artist gaining skill that will serve them well later, human connections formed in art communities along the way, and so on.
If those are worth the cost, the artist will pay them.

What we do won't affect her much; but that's not really the point. Every penny she loses, every criticism of her, every new HP thing that fails: they are a rebuke of transphobia; trans people see it and know people are on their side. It may be a small thing, but it adds up, and it matters.

wrote 20 pages on Faulkner's The Bear four hours before final papers were due on trucker pills and coffee and cigarettes and got an A, fuck you.
