BREAKING: The NCAA Tournament will stay at 68 teams ... for at least one more year. The decision was made today.

As for 2027 and beyond? That remains up for debate still.

Here's the story coming in at this hour. Read:
NCAA to keep 2026 March Madness men's and women's basketball tournaments at 68 teams
Monday was a big win for basketball fans who prefer the NCAA Tournament to remain untouched, but expansion still looms

Decision-makers in college sports do not deserve the benefit of the doubt. At every turn, they’ve demonstrated they will burn the entire sports to the ground to make themselves more money in the short-term.

Even if expansion were reasonable (it sucks), we should oppose it out of spite.
Later this week, the NCAAT selection committee will vote on tourney expansion. Division I's size increase over the past 40 yrs has been a go-to lobbying point, but it's always been a bogus one. I did the math and present to you one last case why March Madness should stay at 68 teams. Big column:
Here's the math and data that prove why the NCAA Tournament doesn't need to expand
Matt Norlander busts the biggest myth regarding tourney expansion and lays out the stakes for a historic week in college athletics

Personally, I think the game flows better with quarters than the under-16/12/8/4 TV timeouts.

Most importantly, under this proposal, we could still ban personal fouls.
🏀 NCAA MBB committee says there are positive conversations about moving from halves to quarters, like the NBA and WBB.

Recommends the D1 conferences form a working group to gather feedback on it.

For all the constant complaining about how difficult life is for coaches with NIL, it's way more likely now than it was a few years ago to keep great college players in college and that fucking rules.

At some point, "the sport" will realize that it's a great financial benefit to the product too.
