Keeping excellent company in m'colleague @helenlewis.bsky.social's latest substack. Any or all of the three TW books would make ideal Christmas presents for everyone you know, alongside Helen's own The Genius Myth.

Hope it's proper old-school variety. Big opening number, banter with the band, couple of musical guests she duets with, comedy sketches, maybe a bit where she goes out on the street with a hidden camera and pranks people.
New: Liz Truss will tomorrow premiere the first episode of The Liz Truss Show.

Billed as "A bold new programme in a media landscape dominated by groupthink and timid consensus".

Truss: "The Deep State tried to destroy me but now I'm back and excited to launch this show."

To which the only possible answer is “No, because you're clearly incredibly fucking boring.”
What’s the worst question someone can ask after you tell them your profession? For linguists, it’s definitely “how many languages do you speak?”, but I’m curious what else is happening to the rest of y’all out there?!

Bring back the days when Marks and Spencer's put out their own-brand ghost story collections, say I.
One from the vaults! Mary Danby edited many fine collections of weird tales, and 65 Great Tales of the Supernatural is an excellent collection of some of the all-time great ghost stories #books #ghosts
