One million seconds is equivalent to 12 days. One billion seconds is 31.7 years.
This is a great explanation of the difference between 1 million and 1 billion, and how huge the wealth gap has become.

Communities need used-book shops.

As the trends in our world are increasingly standardized and entrenched by "predictive" technologies that stifle innovation and reduce human actions into economic categories...

We need a full range of possibilities for readers and communities to explore and share.

#FeatureFriday

My favorite song from @brianlambert.bsky.social's "Everything's A Business" is coincidentally the longest song:
"Little Things".

It's got a crunchy guitar, a good pace and is excellent music to get you woken up!

In case you needed one more reason not to use AI …

The CEO of ChatGPT is blaming a teen’s suicide on his failure to follow the terms of service:

Adam Raine, 16, told ChatGPT he was suicidal and the AI bot told him his feelings were valid and even provided suggestions and detailed instructions.
OpenAI says teen's 'misuse' of ChatGPT is to blame for his suicide, because he broke the TOU: 'Users must comply with OpenAI's Usage Policies, which prohibit the use of ChatGPT for suicide or self-har...
The lawyer presenting Adam Raine's family calls the response "disturbing" and I have to agree.

Ever heard that someone is "playing their hearts out"? I think this describes @artofstone.bsky.social's music best.
It's not very exited, but nontheless pationate. When something is so seemingly simple, even the smalles changes and contributions matter so much more.
Love it!

I didn't have the time or the right mindset to dig into the latest album by @artofstone.bsky.social yet, but better late than never!

I’ve been trying to find ways to articulate my hatred of AI-generated music that won’t come across as snobbish, but most of what I have to say about it can be boiled down to this:

None of the artists I like in any genre, regardless of era, make music that can be accurately predicted by a computer.
