Make a fuss. Be disruptive. Do whatever you need to do to get the care you need

Advocate for yourself, and when you have the health to do so, advocate for comprehensive healthcare coverage for all

Whenever possible, be the voice which so many people lack <3

When I had my hysterectomy, I was told recovery would be quick because I was young, fit & otherwise healthy.

They were wrong. The surgeon made an error and despite signs of post op bleeding, discharged me & went on vacation.

When I returned to the ER, I was ignored & gaslit 🧵

To give you a sense of how pervasive this problem is - my ER missed my STROKE this week! The arteries to my brain are so narrowed, and they discharged me with no treatment. If I get my BP checked lying flat it feels like im being strangled to death.

ER totally missed it.

This is why we need a patient revolution. Healthcare is sick and we all need to demand reform. We need more caring and slower care. Please support @patientrevolution.org and its efforts to reform industrialized healthcare.

A new study confirms what so many already know: being dismissed by doctors can be as traumatic as illness itself.
Patients report four kinds of harm: shame, lost trust, delayed diagnosis, avoiding care.

This is what I tried to name in The Invisible Kingdom: www.mycentraljersey.com/story/news/h...
Did you leave the doctor feeling worse? How to recognize, respond to medical gaslighting
A Rutgers study found that dismissing patient symptoms causes lasting harm, including shame and avoidance of care.

"The Times analysis also found that skipping patients is exacerbating disparities in health care. When lists are ignored, transplants disproportionately go to white and Asian patients and college graduates."

Organ Transplant System ‘in Chaos’ as Waiting Lists Are Ignored
The sickest patients are supposed to get priority for lifesaving transplants. But more and more, they are being skipped over.

There are things every one of us can do in our daily lives to help ensure free and fair elections — and, in doing so, limit Trump’s power. Some actions are small — so small that you might dismiss them as unimportant. Don’t. Every important journey begins with a single step.

This is getting fewer headlines than it should. After coming to power promising to help working people, the president is revealing his real priorities by actively making it easier for banks to rip people off.

Until we are all aware of this crisis, nothing will change. Pay attention and speak up. Industrialized healthcare does not lead to careful and kind care (which are both needed to have any meaningful healthcare). Consider following @patientrevolution.org to learn more and get involved.

Every part of the healthcare system is stretched and at or near crisis level, but the ER departments are in serious crisis. THE PITT and this article show how hard it is on the healthcare professionals--WHICH HAS A DIRECT IMPACT ON PATIENTS TOO.

My favorite sign (for obvious reasons) from today's "Hands Off!" protest n Charlottesville. Over 2,000 people showed up. Darn good for a small metro area. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽, to @indivisiblecville.bsky.social for organizing the event. BTW, the protester's father is a retired history professor. Clearly a good man.
The photo shows a protester holding up a sign that reads, "Some of you slept through history class and it shows." The protester's face cannot be seen.

NEW: Calling the firings a “sham,” a federal judge on Thursday ordered federal agencies to rehire tens of thousands of probationary employees who were fired amid Donald Trump’s turbulent effort to drastically shrink the federal bureaucracy. www.politico.com/news/2025/03...

Nervous Musk, Trump, Vance have all been outclassed in public arguments these last few days. Government failure, stock market crash, and dictatorial alliances are not popular. People are starting to realize that there is no truth here beyond the desire for personal wealth and power. (2/2)

The divide in politics today is between unreality and reality. Those who seek to rule the world blur human experience and smudge memory, making cooperation and friendship laughable and unthinkable.
