Today I'm calling on @governorferguson.bsky.social to declare a state of emergency: the expiration of SNAP benefits for nearly one million Washingtonians will be a disaster for the health of many, and for the economic health of the state. We must join other state governments and act swiftly.

Regardless of the misinformation spoken, the Puget Sound Regional Council is expecting population in King, Pierce, Snohomish, and Kitsap Counties to grow by nearly 2 million people by 2050.

Statement on City Council’s Proposal to Dramatically Expand Surveillance of Seattle Residents

We urge Councilmembers to stand with immigrant rights groups, civil rights advocates, and the city’s own Surveillance Advisory Working Group to reject the proposals…
We can't wait for Councilmember Dionne Foster to take her place in November 🤭

The real question is how much lower Sara Nelson's vote share can possibly go? Can she get it under 30%? That's nearing GoodSpaceGuy territory.
Looks like there were over 120 commenters about this, from every walk of life and corner of #Seattle.

The other times the council voted in opposition to a public comment turnout like this, their approval ratings (and vote %) decreased.

Are they going to do it again?
One interesting thing about this public comment session is that, while there are representatives from orgs and nonprofits giving comment, there seem to be a lot of private individuals who are simply showing up because they're really concerned about increasing surveillance right now.
