genuinely looking forward to action-based combat potentially breathing some new life into it
i've had a rlly mixed-bag experience w pokemon over the years for a myriad of personal reasons, but i still want to have hope in enjoying it again, y'know?

legends arceus was really fun! we really enjoyed it being primarily focused on *catching* pokemon,
completing a pokedex as more of a Main goal compared to battles felt really good! and i hope we can continue to get less battle-focused spin-offs from pokemon!!

i would rather spend my time training a creature and have that experience feel interactive to some degree than mindlessly grind battles for exp.
it's a very different experience.
and i'm not knocking it!! it's just not for me.
but i still want to give legends z-a a chance

like my peak monster collector/monster raising games are monster rancher 2 and 3, early generations of tamagotchis/digivices, and digimon story cyber sleuth;
i think this gives a pretty clear image of where my priorities and enjoyment lies

something something the monster collector/monster raising type games are only really enjoyable for me when there's a focus on the bonds between you and the creatures, with the battling as a secondary goal or a means to reach another goal in the plot, or just have battling not be present at all

simultaneously excited to play legends z-a tonight and also beginning to acknowledge that pokemon isn't scratching the itch that i'm beginning to see only digimon or monster rancher can satisfy for me.
don't quite know how to put that feeling into proper words yet tho.

all the characters just go "Nuh-uh! That thing you think of as a flaw is *actually* one of your strengths!" every time a character flaw is proposed 😑
