there’s a subset of people who, if you point out something bad happening now, will basically reply “it was always like this and anyone who disagrees is just privileged.” it parades as savvy but nine times out of ten it’s just an ahistorical oversimplification.

The consistently reliable way to see someone's political bias laid bare is how they frame polling numbers. Watch a pundit frame 51% for stricter immigration as a "mandate" for trump, and then that exact same pundit frame a 38% approval rating as "the public hasn't soured on trump yet" ... 🚩

Hypothesis: The disconnect between US news media coverage of causes of death and what Americans actually die from is then reflected in what people are scared of & what politicians invest in, or defund. Refocusing attention on causes will help all of us reduce harm.

It is WILD how many big city mayors think the point of their city is for suburban drivers to crash through them as fast and callously as possible. What a breath of fresh air to imagine a mayor who actually likes their city and the people who live there.
