A deep interest in the pre-Windows home computer revolution, specifically the 8-bit, Commodore, and Amiga scene that defined that period of immense technological change for the home computer user.

The #C64 A to Z

My Fave ‘A’ Games No.7

Avenger

A superb Gauntlet-style adventure with a neat ninja twist, Avenger has you exploring maze-like fortresses, collecting keys and bumping off baddies on a quest for vengeance. Atmospheric, stylish and addictive, it’s one of Gremlin’s best C64 releases.

Five years ago, my son tried Falcon Patrol on my Commodore 64. (The one my parents bought for me in 1984.)
Commodore 64 silver label being used to play Falcon Patrol on an LCD TV.
That was the cool thing about the C64 (and of course other machines) .. is that you could, right out of the box, start doing/creating things ... the first thing I did was type in this LONG program from one of the great magazines that catered to the C64 back then. What a way to learn!

How Rich Do You Want to Be asks Ocean Software in January 1986's Your Sinclair.

And it would have felt by then like anyone and everyone with a microcomputer and learned programming in mid-80s Britain could strike it rich. A tempting prospect to those growing up in declining industrial cities.
A magazine ad for Ocean Software as they start hitting it big and recruiting in-house staff and calling for freelancers to send in their programs on tapes.
I missed the boat.

I'll get some ZX Spectrum #ScanlineSunday action in with a gorgeous piece of demoscene artwork from Elysium State, a 2022 prod.

Anyone else miss when a UI like this was the front door to the internet?
Screenshot of Compuserve 2.5 from 1996
Oh dear! The last I used Compuserve -- it was TEXT only on a 300 baud modem via Tymnet .. and Telenet if I recall correctly.

Decathlon DX for GBC by Rajcsányi László, is an incredible homage to the 1983 Atari classic! You get 8 grueling events, like 100m dash and javelin throw that demand razor-sharp timing.

Falcon by Spectrum Holobyte was a favorite game on the Amiga. Before there were LAN parties, I'd have two computers joined together via a cross-over serial port to play head-to-head.

You'd start out at like 10,000 feet heading toward each other .. and if you made it past that - the dog fight began!
A great game, I had this for the Amiga - a great 2-player game!

"Look, all I 'ad was a colander from me ol' mum's kitchen cupboard to use as a helmet. I stuck some spikes on it to make it look well 'ard. Leave off, awright?"
The cover for the original Speedball game, with a lanky looking guy looking both shy and sulky in his shiny chrome future sports armour and what looks like a spiky bowl on mod head.
I had this one for the Amiga! ...it was so amazing .. and I loved to show it off to those who had Test Drive for the PC.

😳😂
That is so awesome! Downloaded and hopefully I can test it out this week!
