Meet Minneapolis is declaring Minneapolis as #1 for women’s sports thanks to The Minneapolis Frost, The Lynx, Minneapolis Aurora FC, Gopher Hockey, and other sports events hosted here.

All regional inaccuracies aside, I’m glad to see them celebrating and promoting the thriving sports scene here

Solidarity with those who don’t have enough vacation time, money for drop in child care, or a support net to keep up with all these school breaks

We are 7 weeks into the school year and MPS has had a total of 3 weeks where kids were in session all 5 days

If you don’t have kids, aren’t a teacher, and/or didn’t go to school here, you might not know what “MEA weekend” refers to—and Tim Harlow isn’t about to enlighten you.
Story in the Strib by transportation writer Tim Harlow, titled “MEA weekend flyers may face delays at airport.” Nowhere in the article is MEA defined

First you remove the street level businesses
Then you remove the events
Then you remove the buses
Then you force employees back to eat their skyway bowlslop

That’s the recipe for downtown success

She gave a long non answer that praised his work
I'm going to say this here: many of these questions need space to be more deeply responded to. The one above about Rev. McAfee, for example.
I do know my answer but it's not as simple as "yes" or "no" and picking out Reverend McAfee is wildly unfair. Our city's request for proposal (RFP) process regarding violence prevention work is opaque and misguided.
The council never put into place a clear rubric for funding, outcomes or intentions in communities since 2020.
Rev. McAfee has done good work on the North Side of the city but these things are infinitely complicated. There are countless problematic contracts in the city. My goal is to make a measurable and transparent process for both neighbors and organizations as to who does and does not get a city contract for violence prevention.

Idk if the lights were replaced a few years ago when they revamped it but if so, 6 years is a really short amount of time for that to last
