Clothes being cheaper doesn't really matter when affordable housing is still way too high for the average wage especially considering there's reasons clothing costs less now than it did.

I wouldn't exactly call that a sign of prosperity.

I think this is at the heart of why AI is useful to fascists. They seek to throttle the imagination, so people won't be able to think of ways to stop them. People won't be able to hope for anything better.

As an art teacher I was worried AI would come up as an issue of "why should I learn how to draw when I can use AI instead."

But the real issue is that my middle schoolers CONSTANTLY believe all art I show them is AI. Digital art. Photography. Oil paintings from the Western canon. "A human couldn't do that"

Being convinced that humans can't make great art is kind of terrifying

Blocklists are so easily abused. I once saw some artists I follow get added to an A/ artist list, just to spite them. So ppl who block the A/ artists will automatically block real artists they really like as well. Came to my attention after somebody mentioned being suddenly blocked by mutuals.

The single biggest question in American law today is:

Are lies a get-out-of-laws-free card? Can the government simply lie to grant itself new powers? And is everyone else under an obligation to act as if obvious lies are true, or at minimum, that they might have merit and deserve respect?

I have to confess "your browser's AI can be made to steal your banking info via prompt injection because it runs with full privileges and treats all text as equally authoritative sources of instructions, including the text of pages it's summarising" is more surprising to me than it should have been.
