NEW — I'm suing DC Metro Police for the full body cam footage from the DOGE raid on the US Institute of Peace back in March.

The public deserves to know why MPD chose to sell out the people they’re tasked with protecting in order to bend to Trump's will. I'm repped pro bono by @rcfp.org.

Corrupt and tainted with a thousand vices
In other news, does it count more when you light candles at a UNESCO World Heritage Site? I've done it twice in the past week.
I'm in France and am concluding my nightly ritual of checking into my lodging, looking at Bluesky & news alerts, & becoming sickened/horrified at what is going on with my country, its politics, and my industry. I have stuff to do & people I love, but my anxiety spikes when I think of heading home.

He did the crimes, Senate and SCOTUS Republicans let him get away with them, he got reelected, Senate Republicans let him appoint his personal lawyers to run DOJ, and now he’s ordering his personal lawyers who run DOJ to give him $230 million of your money.
Breaking News: President Trump wants $230 million from the Justice Department for investigating him, people familiar with the matter say. Any settlement might ultimately be approved by senior department officials who defended him or those in his orbit. nyti.ms/4hmIi5X

COLLINS: The NYT is reporting your legal team is seeking $230 million from your own DOJ now in response to the investigations into you. Is that something you want?

TRUMP: It could be, yeah. I don't even talk to them about it. All I know is they would owe me a lot of money. They rigged the election.

HOLD UP. Trump now says he’s demanding payment from the US taxpayers over the ‘Big Lie’ about the 2020 election? It was bad enough when the Times reported he was seeking payment over the federal probe into his handling of classified docs but now this too? This is batsh*t crazy.

it's dizzying to me that stories like this -- a corrupt grift built on democracy-wrecking lies that culminated in a coup attempt -- barely breakthrough anymore. they're just daily background noise now.

So we’re now paying federal taxes so Donald Trump can withdraw them from the Treasury like it’s his own personal bank account? Really?

I’m skeptical that a court can or will do this, but i think it has to be tried, because the GOP has descended to full lawlessness, and we don’t have any kind of government if the majority party can just refuse to recognize others.
