The imaginarium of denial that Labor and industry have constructed and which Speers et al dutifully operate within avoids their confronting two policy 🐘: all fossil carbon mining contributes to climate change and carbon offsetting/capture, both 🌳 & 🏭, isn’t real.

Of all the claims made about AI, the suggestion that it'll help "solve" climate change is, to me, the most risible. Such a claim could only come from people who do not understand the nature of the problem, or what addressing that problem requires.

The notion that we can substitute our failure to stop burning fossil carbon with “large scale carbon removal” is magical thinking. There is no scalable tech that can do this. These types of projects are essentially fossil carbon industry disinformation to promote delay. Hence the ease of funding.
