Levelled up to fight climate, energy and biodiversity policy 🐂 💩. Australian but pro humanity AND the biosphere. Anti genocide (weird this needs saying). Not always anti market: definitely pro antitrust laws. Sometimes annoying. Need to stay Anon soz

Energy policy is not climate policy. The imaginarium of denial that Labor and industry have constructed and which Speers et al dutifully operate within avoids their confronting two policy 🐘: all fossil carbon mining contributes to climate change and carbon offsetting/capture, both 🌳 & 🏭, isn’t real.

You’re confusing centrism with socialism.

Of all the claims made about AI, the suggestion that it'll help "solve" climate change is, to me, the most risible. Such a claim could only come from people who do not understand the nature of the problem, or what addressing that problem requires.

Whatever could be causing this? Does ANYBODY know? 🤷

So how do we know there’s a ceasefire eh?

[FOUNDER'S BRIEF - @rhettayersbutler.bsky.social]

Razan Al Mubarak, president of the IUCN, describes biodiversity as an archive of genetic data refined over billions of years that encodes solutions to survival.

The story of the Gila monster illustrates this vividly.
Protecting Earth’s oldest data system: the case for biodiversity
Long before humans built computers, nature built a better one. Razan Al Mubarak sees biodiversity as the planet’s original information network. In a commentary published on Mongabay, Al Mubarak,…

Another reminder that a 13-year study found that protected bike-lanes led to a drastic decline in fatalities for all road users.

ALL ROAD USERS.

And painted bike-lanes? No safety improvement at all.

For sharrows, it’s actually safer to NOT have them.

Separated Bike Lanes Means Safer Streets, Study Says — Streetsblog USA
Cities that build protected lanes for cyclists end up with safer roads for people on bikes and people in cars and on foot, a new study of 12 large metropolises revealed Wednesday.

That money could have paid outright for solar battery systems for around 15000 homes, purchased maybe 10000 EVs etc etc 🤦🏻

From the fossil carbon industry’s perspective (therefore also the SA Labor govt’s) it was money well spent.

We can’t pay to repair climate and ecological damage with an industry that destroys the climate and ecosystems. I keep repeating this obvious and axiomatic fact because I know you’re not all idiots and the penny will eventually drop…… at some point……

Whether it's young Democrats expressing their support for DEI or young Republicans saying "I love Hitler,' both sides have expressed controversial opinions.

Every post about the LNG industry needs to include a statement that LNG is a third MORE CLIMATE DAMAGING THAN COAL. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

Yep: it’s just 🐂 💩 techtopian grift, adjacent to, if not directly from, the fossil carbon industry disinformation project of delay. The fuckers want us talking about everything except current commercially available clean tech.

I’m sorry but this is just delusional. The peace won’t hold because it is not just. If you really think the worst people in the world, from Bibi to Trump to Blair, are going to deliver justice to the Palestinians then can I respectfully suggest you punch yourself in the face right now.
valentenya.bsky.social
The notion that we can substitute our failure to stop burning fossil carbon with “large scale carbon removal” is magical thinking. There is no scalable tech that can do this. These types of projects are essentially fossil carbon industry disinformation to promote delay. Hence the ease of funding.

The Republicans did this re American hostages held by Iran in the lead up to the 1980 election. This contributed to a decent man, Carter, losing to the oligarchs’ puppet Reagan; and so here we are…

Gosh what could possibly be causing these ecological catastrophes and what could we do to stop them getting worse? 🤷.

Biden facilitated the genocide as Trump continues to. We seem to be drifting off the main game here as well as counting a chicken that hasn’t hatched.

Billions of animals. Esp in the marine environment. Ultimately (probs sooner than most folks expect) civilisation. The problem is far bigger than “100s of human deaths”. Bigger than minds and hearts can hold.
