Level 20 wizard/cleric/fighter. Wizziest wizz that ever there was. Weaponised cyborg beard. Insane with genius. Matt Mercer says "fuck AI". Going by my D&D character's name (again) as it's scary out there.

#Cyberpunk #TTRPG this evening involved my socialist psychopath discovering his supposedly dead sister is alive as a highly cyberised, Adam Smasher-style corporate enforcer/cyber cryptid called the Mech Wraith. He couldn't be more proud.

It's like a weird mix of Lady Vengeance and Gossip Girl, but it works...

It feels like what we're starting to see on both sides of the pond is people rejecting the choice between two essentially identical candidates whose only ideological difference is what colour rosette they favour. People are gravitating to parties and politicians that openly stand for something.
Started watching a Korean series I had recommended called The Glory. My Western sensibilities cannot tell any of the characters apart and it is ridiculously drawn out, but it's very good; particularly since I heard about it in reference to it all being inspired by a very real social issue in Korea.

Got through season one of Spartacus and the prequel series. Both good, but it predictably went off a cliff after that. I had ambitions of keeping watching just for Lucy Lawless, but it is utter balls and I don't have the energy.

I’ve just seen a video of someone reacting to the John Lewis ad and I’m not sure what’s the bigger waste of time.
If history has shown anything, however, it's that slavery is not a sustainable model for society. Who knew Arthur C Clarke was actually just predicting the future instead of using metaphor.
I mean, for this one, the headline makes it look like a story but "fascist poster girl vaguely feigns ignorance about politics to avoid accountability" is hardly news nowadays...
Trump's policies are dumb. He won by being a name people recognised on the poll. That's it. Friend of mine thinks he only got in as most people had no idea Kamala was running instead of Biden. Politicians are so out of touch. We could stop the whole march of fascism if Starmer just wore jeans once.

Brand building and creating a clear visual identity and tone of voice are such basic things, but it's amazing how little these principles are applied in politics. Distinctiveness is almost seen as dangerous.

My MP continues to be the cringest of them all
today's Labour party posting versus yesterday's Labour party posting:
I think they SHOULD be totally irrelevant flights of fancy unconstrained by canon or expectation. The reason I disliked season 3 is the opposite: sequel episodes, by definition, go completely against the concept, and all but the last ep this season were decidedly unimaginative and undifferentiated.
The thing about AI is that, if the clankers were right about its potential to become sentient and run the world for us... they're not, but if they were... then the AI would need to be paid and have rights, negating the whole reason they want to develop it...

Also relevant this side of the Pond.
Sobering news for a lot of top Democrats, tonight, as they realize people would prefer they actually fucking do something.

I want to know if there's any way to prove whether any of my books were part of that set. I would love to be able to buy a house because of their perfidy.
OpenAI pirated large numbers of books and used them to train models.

OpenAI then deleted the dataset with the pirated books, and employees sent each other messages about doing so.

A lawsuit could now force the company to pay $150,000 per book, adding up to billions in damages.
1995 is a classic, but I feel like 2021 was a bit meh. It took itself too seriously.
Exactly. I mean, if every season is at least guaranteed, then they can wrap up as if it's ending and then start a new story the next season, but then they have to end on a cliffhanger to try to persuade producers to let them come back.
It really is a curse on TV shows. How can you write something if you know every ep might be the last. They need to dedicate themselves to a set, regular run before they start.
The first season is pretty solid, but they immediately start getting confused about doing the story out of order and trying to make it work for their world and time period. He must never have planned to make more than that first arc.
It's not good, but it wants to be good so much and I respect it
My app crashes every time I post anything.
