Mamdani: "The bigger question is whether we are willing to say goodbye to ... anti-Muslim sentiment that has grown so endemic in our city that when we hear it, we know not whether the words were spoken by a Republican or a Democrat."

Consider how few anecdotes it took for the media to declare a Free Speech on Campus crisis.

Every day we get more evidence that the Republican Party is teeming with white supremacists yet elite institutions refuse to frame this as a crisis that needs the nation’s attention.

And that’s because, and this is important, life is messy.

I love that this is literally just

we realized we weren't connecting with Black people so we tried talking to more Black people and Black people like us much better now
"Black organizers had noticed gaps in the campaign’s strategy for reaching Black voters. To address them, they led canvasses in working-class Black neighborhoods...By early October, Mamdani had taken a commanding lead over Cuomo among Black voters"

I hear you, but the legal question is whether this court has to follow the 1968 Gun Control Act. We want that answer to be *yes* and then we want to reform the Gun Control Act to fix this stupid application of it.
WAMC panelist defending Trump’s impulsive renovations at the White House as emblematic of how hard it is to get anything done in government because of bureaucracy is really something. Change happening this fast and furious will *definitely be an improvement.

The East Wing of the White House, which will be torn down by this weekend to make way for President Trump’s new ballroom, has been a base for the first lady, an entryway for social functions and an emergency bunker. Here's what to know about its history.

The day after the Chinatown raid, New York AG Tish James launches an online portal for the public to submit photos and videos of ICE activity.

"We are committed to reviewing these reports and assessing any violations of law," she writes.

Just read the article and saw the photos and all I have to say is that there has to be a reckoning for this.
“.. They are the asylum seekers, the rule followers. They go into the federal building holding papers .. hoping for a measure of due process. Some leave the courthouse with a hearing date set months or years from now. Others disappear into ICE’s prison system.”

This is important because what they’re actually defending is the right to get a Nazi tattoo without consequences in public life. These people don’t know or care about the guy they’re defending.
The bananas thing is… he didn’t even know who this dude was 5 minutes ago? You gotta go this hard for a nazi tattoo guy _you just met_? Just find another dude who makes good videos! There are literally millions of dudes who have done physical labor with no nazi tattoos, like all the non-white ones.

They are emboldened now for sure. But racism and sexism are the underpinnings of Nazism. What’s happening right now wasn’t just spontaneous or opportunist. It was waiting.
I’m not saying it was considered normal, but I think we should be honest that it always had an easier time existing in the mainstream than affirmative action.
I think it was there. Just like racism and antisemitism was always an undercurrent. David Duke was in the Louisiana state house. People were quieter is all.

The best time to abolish ICE would have been in 2021. The next best time is if we win in 2028. At this point, any Democrat unwilling to abolish ICE must be drummed out of the primary.
ICE is stockpiling arms, including chemical weapons, guided missile warheads and explosive components. The spending dwarfs anything we've ever seen in the agency - a 700% increase.

The President is building an army to attack his own country.

The Maine primary is in what, June? People really wanna die on the unrepentant Nazi tattoo hill instead of, idk, using the next eight months to support somebody else?
And as we castigate her for talking about coalitions and changing her voter registration, know that George Clooney moved his family to FRANCE because he said they couldn’t get a “fair shake” here.
Imagine saying her experience in the room at the time it was happening isn’t worth anything?

This is unforgivable -- innocent, helpless families being tortured and torn apart for the entertainment of a decadent, bloodthirsty domestic audience. I feel sick being part of it.
