Because why not, y’know?
(in the U.S., i did the thing, sorry)
it’s like sports betting got legalized and everyone collectively decided you can’t criticize gambling anymore

this is one of those times where I think getting mad at this says more about the person getting mad than anything else

Like. This is your line? Making the most evil games in the world is fine but the anime slot machine creators seeking ways to more efficiently exploit is where the line gets drawn?
Anyway here's Mihoyo promoting AI assisted game production including:

"Efficiency in Image and Material Generation
With very few materials, they can generate character model sheets + 3D models, allowing for the testing of multiple designs and their artistic outcomes."

Something to keep an eye on.

MARIO RPG HAS VIRGINITY???
"Fresh", sealed copies of Super Mario RPG actually have a unique title screen. This screen is lost permanently on that cartridge after playing and saving just once, and can not be restored without tinkering with the cartridge or waiting decades for the save battery to run out.
just take cabs and you’ll get dialogue
oh it definitely is that, it’s just kind of annoying to see it :P
“i don’t like it because it’s not something i enjoy” nice job
just saw someone say “my main issue is that the game isn’t fun” and god discourse is cooked if someone thinks this says literally anything
dj octavio has been deeply affected by the amazon web services outages
ah yep AWS is down, yikes! so much stuff uses those
oh shit that’s amazon web services iirc, that could be a big deal (maybe (not smart))
sorry if this makes little to no sense. again, intoxicated
pokemon is an interesting case because the games drive the marketing machine. certain choices (open world for ScVi, more online features) were definitely made to attract a larger crowd but every game has this tangible tension between artistic vision and corporate budgeting that i kinda love
i have the exact same feelings about donkey kong bananza as i do tears of the kingdom: it is less a standalone product and more a Vehicle to Drive Interest In IP and you can really feel that in a way you don’t with warioware or kirby or whatever
idk i am liking the AAA nintendo games less and less as of late. their lower budget games still clearly have a lot of vision but their bigger stuff is starting to feel very lowest common denominator to appeal to as many people as possible and ensure their higher investments make returns
okay i’m intoxicated here’s a hot take. i think pokemon games are interesting because of their low budgets and if they made a AAA uber polished game it’d be received better in media or online but it wouldn’t have as much staying power, at least for me
the union circle multiplayer also probably played into it a bit too, needing to load in whatever models on top of the annoying physics for each player could be the issue

you can literally go check the status of each bill right now. they’ve only been read and referred to committee, with no announced committee date

people like Palmer Luckey understand, either explicitly or implicitly, that retro tech and retro games are an accessible pathway to right wing radicalization. the politics of "remember the past when things were simpler and better?" are only a few steps removed from MAGA, unless you're very careful
a reminder that ModRetro is run by Palmer Luckey, a huge Trump backer, a self described "radical Zionist," and, quite literally, an arms dealer via his other company, Anduril
In other words, the only bill to make noise about right now is Stop CSAM, because it left committee and is headed toward the Senate. The rest of the bills have been entirely forgotten about for months - and are very likely political posturing from assholes like Mike Lee, who passes very few bills
