Someone rebuked me for saying out loud what everyone knows:

WE NEED A PEACEFUL NONVIOLENT REVOLUTION IN GOVERNANCE, SOCIETY, AND ECONOMICS.

It's not only me saying that. Here's what the Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Program wrote in October 2022:

#ClimateSky #GreenSky
Great words. Many of us learn to disconnect from our emotions in childhood. Reconnecting is very difficult, underpinned by all these subconscious beliefs & protection strategies.

For me, years of schema therapy helped, though it took a heartbreak in my 40s to really click.
A am a single woman in that age demographic, and yeah. WTF happened to them?

A guy I knew in school posts pictures of him with half a million dollar sports cars and women in bikinis and whatnot. I learned the other day he rents the cars and pay the girls for 10-minute photo shoots. He sells a grindset online course.
Oh dear. Pre-cooking snack turned into cheese & crackers for dinner.

It's been a big day at the end of a big week and I seem to have run out of mindfulness.

Startup founded by new Nobel laureate Omar Yaghi plans to sell solar-powered “water-from-air” devices in 2026, can make up to 1,000 litres a day without electricity. Using metal–organic frameworks to pull moisture from air, California-based startup aims to supply drought-hit communities worldwide
...there's definitely cultural painting of empathy & collaboration as weakness, despite yielding better outcomes than force & control.

Also, the authentic leaders I've worked under (M&F) all preferred to be influencers of top mgmt & org culture, rather than wanting to BE on top. Lower ego, I guess?
Thanks for the reply - sorry to be some random engaging in unexpected conversation. I follow Fiona & she retweeted you.

I've been musing on this some more. Wondering if more authentic & relational leadership styles trend female, and if so, if that's primarily cultural or endocrine in source...

Some recent hens. They do look good together like this. 🐔

Friendly reminder that I have a Ko-fi by way of a tip jar, if you enjoy my work and would like to send a little material support. Thank you so much to everyone who contributes. ☺️🥲🙏💙

I'd prefer to redistribute the existing goats more effectively. Pretty sure we don't need the many currently roaming in Lerderderg and other parks and reserves...
Relational leadership tends to be slower in getting the results, but results are better & last longer. Culturally, we're on an impatient era, less tolerant of the time & mess required for consensus building & collaborative solutions.

Authentic leadership needs to show it gets shit done to last.
I dunno. I've had a leader high on authenticity but low on actually getting shit done and facing significant problems. Fucking awful.

I now work in a team that values getting shit done WITH authenticity, including helping our people grow emotionally. It's great. <1/2>
When do we adapt and design roofing to become an ecological substrate?
Yeah, they don't quite get the oxycontin flowing, do they?

I need a dating service for lefty, outdoorsy neurodivergent people.
I listened to this podcast a while ago, on how an attempt to ban leaf blowers in LA, with celebrity backing, failed due to very real impacts on marginalised communities. The real solution would be economic redress, but they went with allowing the leaf blowers.

The Los Angeles Leaf Blower Wars - 99% Invisible
The leaf blower is one of the most hated objects in the modern world. They’re loud, they pollute, and… how important is a leafless lawn anyway? In a lot of towns and cities, the gas-powered leaf blowe...

Most days all I need is a decent hug.

Alas, I remain hugless.

Well done, Tim!
Also government feminism & DEI.

When basic participation requires privilege that excludes many of the people you serve, your institution is failing despite your female leaders and morning teas.
Ahh! That would have been so cool!

TSO always punches above its weight too.
See: the entire EIA process.

If the consultancy needs to please the client, and the client needs the approval...
I used to offer to help activists to develop policy asks, to help shift the dial on their issues, but none ever took me up on it.

Making change happen is difficult, messy, confronting, and full of compromise. It can feel pretty icky at times.
Oh, thanks for the link. Gave them a serve about bike infrastructure. Pissed off about interminable questions about car parking and no questions on active transport constraints. So tired of this assumption that car parking is what brings trade when studies prove its not true.
