(i still usually try to mask indoors in public anyway! i don't wanna get sick or get someone sick! something is better than nothing i guess but idk)
tipcalculator.bsky.social
while ppl are discussing proper masking... how tf does anyone with a bushy beard get a mask to fit?

asking bc i have a big bushy beard and i don't want to shave it off, but i often worry it prevents me from wearing a mask tight enough to do its job

No idea what this means. And you know what? That’s valid.

The problem with Pixar's Coco is that Grim Fandango is sooo much cooler than it

forgot about how fun this chase scene was... Wes Anderson hand-drawn animated film when
2D animated sequence from The French Dispatch (2021)
tipcalculator.bsky.social
if nothing else, adding Benicio del Toro and Jeffrey Wright into Anderson's stable of actors ended up being so good for his movies

both of them... so charismatic, warm, even working within the wooden framework of Anderson's directorial style. ruled seeing them work together in Phoenician

this 2nd segment with timothee chalamet... it falls so flat

to me, it's unquestionably the least engaging thing Wes has ever directed. the kind of thing that makes me wonder if his entire ouevre is all actually just a beautiful baroque frame around a wet fart

i love his work but this one? stinks!

Affinity Photo 2 is good for photo editing work and very simple illustration stuff, but Clip Studio Paint is so nice (and doesn't seem bloated/hardware intensive! application opens up real quick) that i think it's going to be my default app for quick drawing stuff in addition to animation :)
tipcalculator.bsky.social
love this shit tbh. yum yum yum
Benicio del Toro against a yellow painted wall from The French Dispatch (2021)
tipcalculator.bsky.social
gotta figure out how to effectively use the illustration stuff tho (when to use the pen, customizing brushes, etc) in order to quickly do color fills

the paint bucket fill tool is a little wonky to me rn (it alters the outline width? weird)

+ not sure how to use multi-layers within each frame yet
tipcalculator.bsky.social
it's very comfortable for me so far!

i have a photography background and the basic functions are a lot like Photoshop and Affinity Photo 2 (i can't afford the former anymore and the latter doesn't have animation tools)

adding frames, using "onion skins", setting framerate, etc is p straightforward

the last two or three times i attempted a rewatch, i quit at the end of the Benicio del Toro segment (the best of the three)

finally gonna do a second complete rewatch of my least favorite Wes Anderson movie, as a treat :)

okay look, i have to be on brand some times.

need the front and back for the full effect
the cover of command and conquer red alert 2. a man in a soviet military uniform standing in front of a red sky and burning new york city skyline. the back cover of the box. soviet ships are firing missiles at new york city with the world trade center featured prominently and exploding as a soviet plane drops paratroopers over the city. there's also an image of a bunch of zepplins flying past one of the bridges in new york and a man in full body metal armor with a hammer and sickle on the chest firing a large electric cannon on his arm.
