I guess they'll just hire a sexual predator as President and nominate an entire production line of violent abusive pākehā males as candidates, then they'll become completely unquestioned by the media.

That's how this works, right?
(Jago, Uffindell, Ross, Walker, Falloon, Barclay etc etc)

I can only assume that the chat threads of the Young Nats and Young ACT look somewhat similar? After all, YA were coached by convicted sexual offender Tim Jago, for example...

POLITICO: “.. They referred to Black people as monkeys and ‘the watermelon people’ and mused about putting their political opponents in gas chambers. They talked about raping their enemies .. and lauded Republicans who they believed support slavery.

This article seems an excellent explanation of the who, and the why of allowing blatant misinformation to circulate via social media since mid-2010s. Who benefits? Look to who is embedded in power now around the world...

This feels like a challenge to compile every instance recorded in Hansard when Winston Peters or David Seymour have been deliberately out of order and/or disorderly and received no rebuke or disciplinary action from the Speaker.💩😡
Every. Question. Time.

Hey, you know the horrendously threatened native freshwater fish?
Yeah?
Let's allow people to fish for them - without licences or controls...
- NZ apparently...

My analysis: The Government’s methane announcement is the policy equivalent of a steaming cowpat on cross-partisan climate consensus and international efforts to tackle the crisis.

The headline effect of a new, weaker climate target is a warmer, more dangerous world.

Popes just continuing to be out there Poping with their reasonable demands:
Pope John XXIII, in Pacem In Terris (1963) clearly stating: "Man has the right to be accurately informed about public events"

The overriding goal of too many journalists is to provide “balanced” coverage from a “neutral” position in equidistance to both sides. That framework is much easier to justify if you pretend to be dealing with “normal” politicians – as opposed to committed ideologues pursuing an extreme project.

Fair enough. How do we change to make a difference?

Politicians don't represent us to power, they represent power to us. They hide, then every 3 years they suddenly show up on billboards, and we pick 'em based on the background colour.

To find what they actually personally stand for (if anything) is a chore.

No wonder people are disengaged.

True dat. I think there's a void somewhere in AoNZ with recording political decisions vs the facts. I note with some glum humour that a re-elected Mayor now claims he'll "focus on reducing debt". Great! The same debt he voted consistently to increase by subsidising wealthy developers? Yep! That debt

I gotta say, I woke up today feeling fabulously free. Even teeing up a hot pot lunch with friends later felt like a huge win. Something I haven’t been able to do in a long time. 💕

Imagine running a country and thinking unions and workers are different things

What a fucking ignoramus
Luxon told Morning Report the disruption is a shame and he believes workers want to reach a pay deal.
"It's a shame, really. I think people are getting sick of unions prioritising the politics over patients, or kids in education and parents being mucked around," he said.

I vote, I believe everyone should

Having said that I can understand why people, particularly young people would be disengaged from a political system and parties which they can rightfully feel is not set up to help them

And there's not really a logistical solution for that

Yes - democracies need to move away from 19th Century solutions to 21st Century problems...

Disengagement is a social input from the US, which single-handedly created an environment where facts don't matter. Democracies need to turn their backs on anything the US is doing to remain healthy. #nzpol
