Michelle Alozie says there wasn’t a lot of what Angel City did against them, it was more them turning the ball over and not playing to their best. Said it’s disheartening but they feel like their future is still bright under Gautrat and Hucles Mangano.

…. Arsenal 1-0 Brighton FT — Gunners hold on but very unconvincing. Seagulls lacking quality, plagued by injuries and absentees couldn’t get enough out of the bench. Arsenal miss a couple of chances to kill the game but look lethargic and fail to inspire.

Importantly though, winless streak is over

Kyra Cooney-Cross excellent off the bench for Arsenal today

…heart goes out to Mpombé who leaves the game on a stretcher, ovation from both sets of fans
theolloydhughes.bsky.social
….1-0 16’ — Olivia Smith forcing the own goal from Marisa Olisalgers on the left side of Brighton’s defence. unlucky for the seagulls but it had been coming…pressure was mounting.

big move from Dario Vidosic to hand Maleys Mpomé her first WSL start at the Emirates today for Brighton against Arsenal.

10’ — pressure building, but she’s up for the challenge.

...the whole structure and confidence to build under pressure and reset the pitch, switch wings, get forward and pick their spaces using the ball was really impressive there from the Utah Royals. wild finish, but a nice sequence.

by my count, Chicago Stars have equaled the NWSL record for draws in a season with 11.

they share that record with the 2021 NJ/NY Gotham FC team.

even.

“You don’t have a period but that’s fine. You’re an athlete.” A caveat accompanying countless medical results, despite inevitable danger, lines being drawn between sacrifices periods + sporting success. A piece for my sister + those challenging the system. www.nytimes.com/athletic/658...
In women’s sports, athletes losing their periods was long considered normal. Not anymore
A byproduct of wider issues, periods continue to be missed, ignored or misunderstood in elite sports
